I have a AWN 2016 Speed Queen Washer. The water valve works for a few months, then hot water slows to a trickle. The first service replacement of the water valve was under warranty. The service guy checked the screens and hoses as well and showed them to me. Definitely the valve. Replaced and a couple months later, hot water is down to a trickle again.
Questions: Is there a way to work with this valve so it stops shutting off the hot water; like bypassing it somehow so it just runs hot and cold all the time? I could then adjust temperature at the wall faucet shut off.

Other than this water valve malfunction, I really like my Speen Queen Washer and Dryer!

Also, I keep the hot water at about 140 degrees, so should not be causing temperature issues.

well the first thing you have to realize, these valves are restricted to give a luke warm temp if Warm is selected...and by that, the opening from each side is not equal, more of a 70/30 mix...a few of us have taken out the screen and carefully drilled the hot side to the same opening as the cold side....now an equal 50/50 mix...

most all new valves, including replacements, have this 70/30 mix built in.....now, if you can find one of the older styles, that are full flow, you might get better results...

my water heater is set to 180, so your right, water temp should not affect the valve...

my unit is a bit older, but the fill flume allowed water to run on the clothes, and also run behind the inner tub, sometimes it did seem to trickle in......again, I took it off, used sealant to block off the rear opening, so all water flow fell onto the clothing...

Thank you Yogitunes for your response.
Yes, after reading through a few threads, realized how the "engergy saver" is working. The valve itself seems to be defective. I run hot water for part of the time just to get a warmer wash, before resetting to a warm water wash. It is when I am setting it to "whites" to get hot water, that I am just getting a trickle of water now. After the valve was replaced the first time...it was like 'wow' so that is how it suppose to work. Sadly, it did not last. I do not want to have to replace these valves every few months, so trying to find a some alternative that will work long term for me.

you know what.....in another thread, we were discussing this....in that the screen on the hot side was getting clogged with debris from the water heater....causing the water flow restriction down to a trickle....

just curious to remove the hoses from the back of your machine, just to rule out that their not clogged....

never hurts to install screen filters at the valves on the wall.....a lot easier to clean and replace if needed....

keep us posted.....

Okay, double checked the screens and hoses. You were right. This time it was the hose with a little bit on the screen of the hot water side. Flushed out both hoses, just to be on the safe side. Everything seems good now. Thank you

Does anyone make a washer where the operator can adjust water temperature, depth, and type of wash? Kind of like the older machines. :)
