you get home and can't call anybody and talk. I bartend and get home around 2 - 3 a.m. All if not most of my friends are in bed. Thank the good Lord above for AW.ORG. I enjoy this place so much. I can't "talk" to you all in the literal sense, but it is so nice to read the opinions and happenings of all the folks here. Thank you all! It is a pleasure. And, thank you Robert for this great outlet!

My work hours are very similar to yours.
I work the grave yard shift also to lessen stress from driving to and from the city on a daily basis.
My friends understand my work hours and I do make time to see them on my day off and some weekends.
This is a great place to post, vent or read some great stuff that would pass through the cracks until we see a glimps on the boob tube.
Hang in there and pick up the phone to keep your friend and family relationship alive.

I worked afternoon and night shifts most of my career at the RR and preferred it over dayshift.
Sometimes in the morning after a shift we'd go to a bar and have a few beers then off home and go to bed. I can now imagine how some people would think.. look at those drunks there drinking this early in the morning LOL

It's 5:00 somewhere!

When I worked nights at the telco we used to do the same as Petek. Martinis at 7 ayem are faboo! Then we'd go to the diner and order "supper" food (burgers, meat loaf, pot roast, etc.)

Now at THD I work part-time and always get stuck with 5-10pm. I don't mind it, I read if it's slow. DVR the programs I want to watch. Follow Mets games on the computer in the department. Sell a few washers, too!

I keep in touch with pals via e-mail, more convenient for everyone.

And yes, Robert, profuse thanx for this site - always something interesting going on 24/7/365.

Tonight!

Thank God for Anita O'Day! I'm watching her biography film for the 40'something time! I love it and her. And, I am feeling great about logging onto this site. No Bullshit!! No Trolls! Just great people to converse with. Thank You All!!!

I feel you

I work nights and its so annoying it can be a really sad existence everyone is asleep its hard to date. I am always off on weird days like for instance today lol.

I did nights for 10 years......

I work for local PD here in records and my office was/is a 24-7-365 - 3 shifts - 9 people w/3 on each shift. The first 10 years for me was night shift and been on days for about 10 now.

I haven't forgotten those night shifts and really would not want to do them again - first few years were fine then I got to where I could not sleep during the day and ended up on meds to deal with that and went through a major depression episode during that time as well.

Additionally, when my wife and I were dating and during the first few years of marriage I was still on nights and talk about messing things up...... She worked days, me nights and it messed everything up schedulewise not to mention the more intimate issues but, we managed to work things in until I went to days and it was much, much better in all aspects!

Love nights!

Have worked them 15 years,im working 12 hr shifts, 7p to 7a,now,love it ,I get 2 weekends a month off, it works for me because I HATE!!!! early mornings,I did not like getting up early as a kid and dont like it now!
