If they are really in as good of condition as they say I'd say the price is reasonable, but certainly not a bargain.
Washer is likely a 1970-75 207 or 606. Hard to tell without a good shot of the water level switches. Dryer is a HOH DE306 or DE606. Again, impossible to tell without a close-up of the dial.

606 is the large tub (19) gal). 4 water levels (small, medium, large, ex-large)
Both have 3 water temp. selctions: Hot/Warm, Warm/Cold & Cold/Cold. Both also have 2 speed selections: Regular agitation/Regular Spin & Slow Agitstion & Slow Spin.
DE306 dryer is timed dry only. 1 reg cycle, 1 pp cycle, 1 air fluff
DE606 is SS control only. Regular dry. Permanent Press. Damp Dry. Air fluff.

I think it may be a 206 set, at least the washer anyway. The chrome is not the shiny type like the 207 or 606 would be. If there were a money shot, that would tell us for sure. The 206 and 207 both had standard tubs, but the 206 had the black agitator.

It's an interesting puzzle for Maytag fanatics. It looks like an A206 because of the non-chromed trim, the two speeds the lack of a Soak cycle on the dial, but, like the 207, it has no pilot light jewel. The 207, on the other hand, had chromed trim and a plastic/crystal control dial knob. The insides would tell the story. Maybe an A206.5?? Whatever the models, they look like nice machines and if I lived down there and had a pick-up truck I'd be over there with 180 cash in hand. Unless there was a competitor, I doubt they'd turn that down. I'll never forget the first time I saw an A206 in Macy's basement back in 1970. I thought that blue tub with that black and aqua agitator were easily as nice as the larger white tub with the all-aqua agitator. Hope you get them.

What happened to the regular wash cycle?!
Clean machines, but I wouldn't shell out 200 dollars for them.
One easy way to tell an A206 from an A606, with the lid closed, is the absence of the chrome in the center of the dial. The A606 and A806 had a chrome center, where the A206 did not, as well as the painted trim vs. chromed trim of the 606 and 806.

The portion of the washer's timer dial with gray paint IS the "Regular" wash cycle. The area marked "Delicates" is simply suggesting a shorter amount of agitation time than for regular fabrics.
The machines do look well cared-for on the outside, although it's puzzling why paint is missing from the washer's timer dial. It could be the effects from the old "Spray-N-Wash" paint removal process that affected the control panels on certain makes & models.
For low mileage machines of such high quality, compared to what you'd buy new today the price is a bargain. If you don't require super large capacity, the machines would serve you well for many years to come.

I'd say go get 'em! I lost out on the avocado pair I was hoping to get this weekend ro $100. Funny how Maytag only had a 10 minute normal wash...sometimes too short for such gentle agitation. Maytag isn't my favorite, but nice to have in the collection.

Yep the washer is definitely a 206 model. Some versions of this, including the one I grew up with did not have the faux light fixture. The only difference between this one and mine is that mine was white.

I've seen many, many Maytag control dials with a lot of the numbers and lines worn off. This was one of their few design flaws. With the advent of the gold-paneled center dials, they used some sort of sealant over the graphics but they could still be and were attacked by some solvents.
I've repainted a couple of the white plastic dials by flooding the print depressions with acrylic paint and then wiping the excess off very carefully with a dry Q-tip. It works best with the dials from before they had a Permanent Press cycle.

My '71 A806S has a plastic shield over the dial. Could this be something that the previous owner did, or something that came from the factory? The previous owners, Mr. & Mrs. Hook, owned a hardware store, and they also sold Maytag appliances on a limited basis.

I really wanted these...but with Christmas here I feel like I should spend the money on other people. I usually get myself something for Christmas but will have to pass this year!
