would any member know if this dial is from a whirlpool washer including the year and model???

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It's earlier than that. 1970 or so. The knits setting is in the midst of the Perm Press cycle where the normal agitation shifts to gentle speed at the 6 minute mark. Neighbors of our lake house had this similar model washer and the house was built in like 1970 or 1971 at the latest.

And I might add, whirlpool pretty much did away with this speed shift on the PP cycle probably by 1974 or so at the latest. Higher end models during this time had a separate knits cycle from gentle cycle. The knits offer wash time up to 8 minutes and had one cool-down phase. Gentle wash was maxxed out at 6 minutes. I do believe if there was a separate Knits cycle, the PP cycle didn't shift to gentle agitation at 6 minutes. Also, the PP cycle had 2 cooldown periods just in case hot water wash was used.

That dial looks to me like the LDA series, 1975-1976. IIRC, that's when the design changed to those unmarked segments for rinse and final spin.

Our LDA-7800 had separate Knits and Gentle, but still did the low-speed shift on Perm Press. A replacement timer some years later had one-stage cool down on PP instead of two-stage, with an EXTRA LONG drain after wash to take up the space, and still with a one-stage cool down on Knits.

What is also telling is that it says "Push Stop" below the dial. Up until about 1974/5 Whirlpools and Kenmores started when you pushed the knob in, and stopped when you pulled the knob out. From the look of the knob, and the fact that it pull-starts, and push-stops, I would say this is a Whirlpool from 1974 to 1979.

Have a good one,
James
