Phil...yeah...they were quite TOL. Video below!

Cannot tell exactly which Selectra Model is the one in LA craigslist ad...but the video below is of a Selectra 21. I seem to remember these being on the market starting circa 1986 or 7-maybe until early 90s. Not a lot were around, and I seem to remember a lot of recall issues re; control boards. Regardless--they were nice when running!

I Have been hunting for one of these for awhile. My KUDS23 is fab. Looks and runs like new....but I still want one of these electronic ones just to swap out every now and then! Soooo cool looking :-)
 
gansky1...you are probably right~

I've been trying to blow that image up to get a better look. Something about it does look 1995-ish...I'm not seeing the usual Hobart style chrome end caps on the control panel--somehow it's a bit squarish looking in that area. I wish people would take decent pics if they really want to sell something properly--it only takes a second to do it right....
 
The KDSS-21 is mine. John (combo52) graciously helped me by having a new computer and keypad for this unit. This was actually one of the last Hobart built Selectras as it has the Hobart badge, and notice, no WhisperQuiet insignia on the front panel. Also, the Kitchenaid emblem is an acrylic badge as opposed to be stamped. I also have a 1989 Superba Selctra 22 with vacuum fluorescent display, and a 1993 Architect Superba Selctra in white, almost indentical to this model that was in the listing, with the vacuum fluorescent display. Also have 2 Maytag digital Jetclean dishwashers from 1997 and 1999. One is the second from TOL with the vacuum fluorescent display, and the other is the TOL with vacuum fluorescent display and turbidity sensor. Also have a Kitchenaid 21 Imperial with rapid advacnce timer.

As you can tell, I like to collect the electronic ones. A little weird I know, espcially since the mechanical ones are much more reliable, but I just liked how unique they were.

Now, just need to find a KDSS-20 :)

outta my mind! When I saw the posting had been deleted, I forced myself to forget about it. Now I'm gonna obsess over it all night :-/
 
This appliance addiction....

is something, isn't it? There are very few electronic appliances which interest me...but these two do just because they're sooo uncommon. I just have this odd need to own at least one of everything that's ever interested me. Luckily, that's relatively affordable where older appliances are concerned. Cars and real estate is an entirely different topic~
 
I Feel Your Pain:

My own interest is TOL electromechanical stuff. My holdings include a 1966 KitchenAid KDS-55 (the portable/convertible version of the KDS-15), a pair of Maytag 806s from 1968, a GE J370 range, and a GE J757 range.

All of it beautiful, all of it with its own quirks. And only some of it in the condition I'd like it to be in.
 
The luck for me...

lies in my uncanny ability to find the best of the best at rock bottom prices. The '63 Frigidaire Custom Imperial fridge I got does happen to need more help than anything else I have...and it really isn't anything major.
Quirks are just part of the fun of all this, though~right? In what other material/design arena can you have so much fun for so little (usually) cash outlay? AND have something truly functional? (Which you can sell off later without losing money if you're wise)...
