Hi all.
It is a couple days that my whirlpool is giving me a couple problems.
I noticed it have a hard time kicking into spin.
It takes a lot of time to reach the speed and sometimes does not at all.
First thing that came to my mind was a slipping belt, though after inspecting and make sure nothing slips I came across something that probably doesn't work right.
Premise:
Even though I disassembled the whole thing and replaced the transmission and spin tube, to this day, I cannot say I have a clear glimpse of how the spin mode works.
I could not find a clear detailed explanation of how exactly it engages into spin or wash mode and what happens during shifting.
All I find is always very vague and incomplete and confusing.
Manuals in the first place.
I know it pushes the spin cam and brake goes down, but I do not understand how and even by seeing the installed thing working I still do not understand.
Said this, I noticed that the spin pulley was very very hot, and it looks like it is due to the friction with the round black pads that I can also hear brushing on the pulley while operating both wash mode and as it tries to go into spin speed, in what's called "spin clutch yoke" in diagrams though I don't even understand how that thing is supposed to be a clutch. What's the purpose? What it does?
I would assume that those pads are not supposed to brush during wash mode and just serves to give the spin speed, and because of it got worn out?
Is it supposed to lift the pads from brushing to the moving pulley during wash?
If yes how? What could be wrong?
The other spin tube assembly I have from my old transmission look like that piece is not supposed to be lifted as it is still.
Also, what the springs under the brake pad are there for?
