My 70's km 800 has wrinkle guard and I want to know is there any way to disable it. I am no longer able to do laundry before going to bed because the machine keeps turning on and scaring/ waking up everyone in the house. It wouldn't be so bad except my machine has a squeal when it turns on that no amount of lubrication or adjustment can make go away. I know this sounds crazy and drastic but I just can't take it anymore lol.

Well if the machine still squeals when it turns on, my only suggestion is for you to use the timed dry cycle. It doesn't have wrinkle-guard at the end of it.
<span style="font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva; font-size: small;">I'd also recommend investigating and solving the squeal. In majority of cases, squealing means something is worn or wearing to the point of unintended metal-on-metal contact.</span>

I'm going to guess this is a dryer with the lint filter on the top in the back right corner. You can buy a rebuild kit for the dryer for about $40.00 or less. The kit has a new belt, new idler pulley, and new drum rollers. It's a fast and easy installation and it will make it run like a new dryer again. This will nearly always solve any chirps, squeals, or rhythmic thumping.

The rollers and idler aren't the only wear parts. Check the felt pad on which the front edge of the drum rides. There may also be a nylon ring that snaps into the front of the drum.
WRINKLE GAURD CYCLE
You didn't say exactly how old your dryer is, [ to everyone if asking about an appliance problem it will improve your odds of a correct helpful answer if you include the model and serial #s ] but the earlier machines had a second timer or at least timer motor on the side of the main timer. If you just disconnect the motor lead and tape it off for the second WG timer it will no longer go through the WG holding pattern, you could also install a switch in this circuit so you could use this feature when you wished. The squealing sound you get when it starts may be the belt slipping a little on the motor pulley. If the sound is worse and lasts longer when the machine is first started with a heavy wet load it is likely it is the motor pulley. If changing the belt did not eliminate the problem you may have a worn motor pulley, this normally won't hurt anything but if you want to eliminate the squeal completely you should replace the motor pulley. Changing the pulley on a late 1960s=early 1970s dryer will let you use the HD 5 rib belt which will not slip as much as the original 4 rib belts did, the PT # for the HD 5 rib belt is 349533 it is NLA from WP but Larry @ modern PTs in Ohio has them.

I know, I gotta run to my Kenmore to shut it off, too... Whether or not my "Buzzer" is turned on, the dryer out'ta nowhere starts up , again! (On, I think an unheated series of "phantom spins"...!)
Otherwise, there's the "old fashioned" clock work timer, of which it's hard to gauge how much TIME is needed for most loads to dry!

I know I should have included the model but wasn't around it when made post. its a model 110.7307810w. It makes the noise whenever its cold. unfortunately the wrinkle guard gives it enough time to settle. I'm definitely going to check for the second timer motor and I'm also going to make a video of the machine later today and put it up on you tube so yall can hear it.
