From this months issue of "Always Jukin" publication. An article written by master jukebox tech, Harold Hagen.

Someone here posted something about a Seeburg machine that played cassettes a week or two ago, so I thought this might be of interest.

someone here

Geez rick, I guess I'm not that memorable, and the original thread is only 6 days old - not weeks. I guess you could have put this info in that same thread but also see that it doesn't make any difference.

It's cool you saw it and thought enough to take the time to post this additional information also.

Someone here from the club thanks you.

Sorry Bob, I guess I don't keep track of time on the site that much. At any rate, I laid the publication on the desk at home last week and asked the boyz to scan the article over the weekend. Last night I posted the scanned information while dinner was in the oven. Glad you enjoyed it.

Very interesting didn't know such a beast existed.I have mixwed feelings on cassettes-or "hissettes"They can tangle and jam.Records don't do that. The Wurliitzer carusell jukebox cassette player reminds me of a broadcast cart carosuel machine.Same idea.Cart carosuells were common in Sparta and IGM(International Good Music) radio station program automation systems-these were "jukeboxes" of sorts-station folks often called program automatrion systems jukeboxes. One I saw had a Seeburg LP 100slot record changer in it.was even still used.

I once saw a home stereo with a four 8-Track changer in it.

I have a 48-slot IGM InstaCart player. 4 motors with REALLY long capstans each handle 12 carts.

Never had a Go-Cart Carousel though. I've seen them in use.

If you look at the last two items (and follow their links) on the page below, you'll see two radio station automation systems using the Seeburg Library Unit 100-record changer.

IGM Instacart-The place where i weork at now used to have 4 Insta Cart players in the Washing DC plant-they were used in a "Sound On Demand" actualities and effects system installed at the studio plant.the language studios could call up on "SOD" recerivers connected to a Reel tape machine and record what actualities they wanted. Then they would be played from the "Insta-Carts" to the reciver that called for them-Was a custom system made by IGM.the central SOD transmitter unit-with the Insta Carts was called "Barney".I PM'ed him during my midnight shifts there. Also had to reprogram him in case of power failure.Had to retype all of the Cart assignment#'s so he would work again.Had a crude computer that controlled the unit.Don't beleive he is in use anymore. Was replaced by central digital audio storage system that could perform the same function.no more carts! The Seeburg changer that I saw was used in the old WRC-FM program automation system in Wash DC.Was used in the early 70's when WRC FM played "Easy Listening music"Then they switched to Disco.the automation was no longer used-don't know what happened to it.The whole "FM station was in one room-the automation system and 2 RCA BTFM-20 transmitters. They were in one building-the TV studio and transmitters, and their AM studio. The WRC-AM transmitter was in Tacoma Park Md.Their AM went from 5Kw to 50Kw.
