Fred I'm so happy for you. I bought my dream car last year. My best friend has a 2011 Cooper S and absolutely loves it. They are such fun little cars, and reliable too! Hope you and Robert have a great time riding around in it.
A friend of ours has an authentic 1964 Mini Cooper S. The original S. It's in show condition too. When I went for my first drive in it we went on the freeway at about 90mph. I felt like I was riding in a tin can the car was so small.
But the newer Mini's are much larger and more heavy duty than the original's were.
I am glad you got the car you always wanted. Have lots of fun with it!
I also drive an 07 Mazda 3. It's been a great car and other than oil changes and wiper blades and one headlight burning out I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. It's got 133,000 Km on it which is around 60,000 miles.
Did you ever have any problem at all with yours?
I'm not sure what I'll get next.. I'm not too fussy on the new Mazda front end smile and the fact you can't get lighter colored interiors anymore. Mines a tan like color inside and I love it except that it's coated in black dog hair.
Thanks everyone for your kind words! It's a blast to drive...
Pete -- I never had a bit of trouble with my Mazda, other than a few headlights, wiper blades, and oil changes, like you. It was a fantastic car and I really am going to miss it. I think I had a major tune up at about 40,000 miles. Oh, and one new set of tires. I did also get the steering wheel replaced under warranty because the stitching had started to come undone. But that was minor and just nit-picky of me.
The MINI is a 6-speed. The salesman said I should eventually get about 400 miles to a tank of gas; it's about a 13 gallon tank, I think.
My Mom got one from that same dealership in 2003. She still has it and nothing ever goes wrong with it. Also they are so damn cute!. Yes I am a Chevy/GMC truck guy(2005 Envoy XL is the current ride) but I love the looks of a Mini.
WK78.
What a treat to choose exactly what you want on your new car! Better than having them hand-pick the chocolates for a one-pound box at See's!
There was a hot looking guy who used to show up once in a while to take classes at the building I worked in. He had a perfect red 60's Cooper with a license plate frame that read, "British Biscuit Box."
Best of luck with the car..
I see you bought the car from one of Roger Penske Dealerships Motorwerks BMW Mini. I am the project manager for his stores (but the Vendor for his compluter software in dealerships..)that was one of the first stores I did when he bought it from The Walser group..
Congrats! Love the color you chose! I am always happy to hear when someone buys a car with a manual transmission - I think they are much more fun to drive.
But out of curiousity, why did you wait until April to pick
I wanted to wait until April so the snow would be gone... this year that hasn't exactly happened, but I couldn't keep waiting... April was the "finish line" date I had set, so to speak.
Its a wonderful blue and I always liked the stripes too. So glad you got a manual trans, such a shame to geld such a fun-to-drive car like that with a automatic slushbox.
In another month or so the snow will be gone and you can enjoy it!
I have a friend with a Mini and he got the coolest vanity plates for it, they say "Alice". Took me a few seconds to get it but its classic!
