I've absolutely loved my 2007 Mazda 3, Max. He was a great car, and I was actually very sad to see him go... Max was also really special, because it was the first brand new car I ever bought. Many good memories and 71,500 miles logged. Here's me saying goodbye...

However, for as long as I can remember, I've wanted a MINI Cooper... Over the past 3 or so years, I've been "kicking the tires" -- and probably test drove MINIs at least 5 or 6 times over those 3 years. Finally everything fell into place with my finances -- Max was finally paid off and I was able to save up for a healthy downpayment. After waiting for so long, I decided that I didn't want to take just any car off of the lot. So back on February 9th, I went in and custom-ordered my MINI. Over the past 8 weeks or so, I followed my MINI's production schedule and shipping status on the MINI website. The car has been here for about 2 weeks, but I was adamant that I wanted to wait unti April to take delivery. So yesterday was the big day, I went to pick it up! They had it all shiny and waiting for me to take delivery. :-)

...And then it rained most of the day. Oh well, it was still fabulous -- gave me a chance to use my heated seats on a cold/damp day. Robert and I just drove all around town yesterday. It was a most perfect first day with my new MINI.

Congratulations!

What a sweet ride! Best of luck w/him or her? Ive always called my cars female. My daughter shakes her head when I do that, LOL.

Ive been pining away for the Dodge Challenger. I owned at 71 Charger 500. My first car, bought her myself - second owner. I gave her up when DH and I started a family. Right now I drive a 2004 Camry. She's a wonderful car - going to keep her until its time to put her to pasture. BUT, I miss having a stick (not the Charger, alas, but I had a Ford Tempo w/a 5 speed) and I miss having a car that I can *drive*.

Enjoy!!!

Fred,

Congratulations on your new ride!  Seems to suit you just fine.

I'm driving a Jeep Patriot (most current in a long string on Jeeps) but would love to have a MINI.  The 'excuse' I fall back on is my two yellow labs.  I just can see buying a car with a black interior and hauling around two yellow labs.  I'll have to wait until my next batch, and pick black ones.  And then get my MINI.

Garden State Congrats!

Those are the cutest things. I always look one over when I come across one in a parking lot. Hope you have many miles of smiles!

Fred I'm so happy for you.  I bought my dream car last year.  My best friend has a 2011 Cooper S and absolutely loves it.  They are such fun little cars, and reliable too!  Hope you and Robert have a great time riding around in it.

A friend of ours has an authentic 1964 Mini Cooper S. The original S. It's in show condition too. When I went for my first drive in it we went on the freeway at about 90mph. I felt like I was riding in a tin can the car was so small.

But the newer Mini's are much larger and more heavy duty than the original's were.
I am glad you got the car you always wanted. Have lots of fun with it!

I also drive an 07 Mazda 3. It's been a great car and other than oil changes and wiper blades and one headlight burning out I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. It's got 133,000 Km on it which is around 60,000 miles.

Did you ever have any problem at all with yours?

I'm not sure what I'll get next.. I'm not too fussy on the new Mazda front end smile and the fact you can't get lighter colored interiors anymore. Mines a tan like color inside and I love it except that it's coated in black dog hair.

Thanks everyone for your kind words! It's a blast to drive... :-)

Pete -- I never had a bit of trouble with my Mazda, other than a few headlights, wiper blades, and oil changes, like you. It was a fantastic car and I really am going to miss it. I think I had a major tune up at about 40,000 miles. Oh, and one new set of tires. I did also get the steering wheel replaced under warranty because the stitching had started to come undone. But that was minor and just nit-picky of me. :-)

The MINI is a 6-speed. The salesman said I should eventually get about 400 miles to a tank of gas; it's about a 13 gallon tank, I think.

Nice Work Fred!

What a treat to choose exactly what you want on your new car!  Better than having them hand-pick the chocolates for a one-pound box at See's!

There was a hot looking guy who used to show up once in a while to take classes at the building I worked in.  He had a perfect red 60's Cooper with a license plate frame that read, "British Biscuit Box."

Very nice Fred!
Love the colors!
I have always had a soft spot for Mini Cooper's!
Enjoy!
