Year and Make of this Maytag Set?

Spotted on Reddit. I love the set and I'm so envious LOL. I'm guessing the dryer is a DE308, though I'm unsure about the washer.

The washer is an A206 I do believe. Standard capacity 2 speed. Washer is 1968 maybe. Dryer toward the end of the center dial series, early 1970s due to the gold tone lower panel rather than the blue.

Thanks. Guess they bought the washer and then the dryer. I wonder what was there prior. I suspected the washer was older due to the avocado color and (functioning?) indicator light.

 

Can I assume the dryer is electric?

Washer is probably a KA206, built before Nov 1972. I can't see the button arrangement on the dryer nor the timer dial but it's either a DE308/DE408.

Gas range and an electric dryer?? Interesting...

The gas range paired with an electric dryer is interesting for sure- typically around here where the range is gas the dryer is also gas and visa-versa.

That dryer dial looks like the one for the D408. There was an A206 in a house I rented; terrific little machine.

does the dryer use temp sensing to adjust time of drying instead of electronic sensing

our house here was gas stove and gas dryer people here had that

added electric to basement for dryer (which is mystery dryer model)

readded gas to basement I wanted a gas dryer to try

Yes, the dryer is a DE408

I have that exact dryer in my collection. This model was produced from 1976 to 1980. On these older Maytags, you can quickly tell the electric (DE) models from the gas (DG) ones very easily by looking at the front panel. Gas dryers will have a small access panel below the door, on the right hand side, to allow for easier servicing of the gas valve. Electric models lack this panel.

Yes, this is a thermostatic auto dry model. Not a single microprocessor anywhere on the machine.

Not a single microprocessor

Even the TOL electronic control units of the time did not use a microprocessor. Just simple, reliable, and durable passive components...they way it should be!

Electronic components such as capacitors and resistors can be reliable for decades, but there will a time where they will have to be gone through since they will have drifted/degraded. This is the sole reason why I put together a Maytag HOH that matches my 806, no pesky electronics to give a headache down the road in the future.
