My Maytag tag says model is HA-207 and the Serial is 270984 possibly followed by hand written (faint) letters "SM". -- see pic. I bought it used around 1974.
I am curious about the "H" in the model number. I am thinking maybe the "H" indicates it was made to be sold by Sears (or other than a Maytag Dealer).
Also am curious about what appears to be that "handwritten SM" after the six digit serial #. Were date letters scribbled in rather than matching the 6 numbers?
I was surprised it had no damper pads when I disassembled it to replace same, due to a metal on metal sound when moving the tub. It was smooth moving till lately so I added what I assume were Teflon pads.
