Guess that's why it's called a food chain; a glitch with one link in that chain can stop the whole process.

Similarly, my sister works for a company that makes labels for pharmaceuticals. The plant has been stretched to its limits trying to get labels onto the next link in that particular chain. Can't put bottles/containers with no labels on pharmacy or store shelves.
