Lawrence:

Please, please, please do not refer to Harvest Gold as "yellow."

Yellow was a clear, bright pastel available until 1967.

Harvest was a shaded hue available beginning in 1969.

It only confuses people when Harvest is referred to as Yellow; they are two different colors and should not be lumped together.

I keep meaning to submit a color chart with manufacturers and dates to Robert, but it's a much more complex undertaking than most people would realize. There definitely is a need for it - people keep referring to their appliances for sale as "tan" when they mean anything from Almond to Woodtone Brown. I've even seen "green" for Avocado and Turquoise.

Sandy!
That was uncalled for!
Did you ever think that without any previous knowledge that Lawrence might be color blind? Or that the pictures really are showing YELLOW!
You don't have enough info to say yes or no! Perhaps the appliances were painted for the owner.
There are many variations of all the appliance colors over the years. There is NO uniform color palate covering all manufacturers.
To make such a broad statement without facts isn't nice!
I do sign this

Greg:

First, it was not my intent to belittle Lawrence.

Second, Lawrence's post references both Yellow and Harvest, which is the confusion issue to which I referred.

Third, I'm well aware there is no standard color reference (see my last paragraph), but it is still possible to make it clear that a Frigidaire appliance is, say, Sherwood Green and not Avocado.

And last, since AW.org does serve as a reference to the general public, courtesy of Google, I would hope that we're all interested in keeping ourselves as accurate as possible.

OMG Frigiscare!!

Has is right that dishwasher may LOOK like a GM Frigidaire ElectriSaver but it's a WCI underneath the shell.  Probably very much the same for the wall oven!!!

The color probably is harvest gold, but from the photos it looks more like Fly Yellow, which is most commonly seen on Italian sports cars and not appliances. Looks pretty nice on the right car, not so pretty on the dishwasher!

About Colors, I don't know how WCI called it but the latest GM Frigidaire appliances lost the shading on all colors and while "Avocado" without the shading continued to be called "Avocado", other colors changed to "Coffee" (instead of "Colonial Copper"), "Terra Cotta" instead of "Poppy" and "Wheat" instead of Harvest Gold). At about the same time, the new "Almond" color was introduced but it didn't replace "Wheat".

The appliances on this picture certainly look more yellowish than the "Wheat" appliances from GM but maybe it's just the picture that does that...

BTW, here in Quebec, "Harvest Gold" is called "Jaune Moisson" which would translate as "Harvest Yellow". Not the same kind of yellow as the 1950s and 1960s appliance colors but still more yellow than gold in my opinion!

When I think about "gold" as a paint color, this is what I have in mind! (or is it "brass"?!). Maybe it's "Copper" (but neither Aztec or Colonial!) since it seems to be turning green where there's oxidation.
;-)

Also, I have documentation that states the color changes of late 1967 (on 1968 models?) and the serial numbers of appliances that first had them. I don't remember if it's Canadian documentation or US documentation but I need to find that and scan it as it might be interesting for some members.

combo, I'd agree with you, especially b/c of the two-control oven, but that window looks suspiciously like a built-in GM Frigidaire...I'm going on memory of a great-aunt's built-in Frigidaire ovens (in avocado, natch)...they were single knob, manual-cleaning from 1972 or so, but the windows were just like those...did WCI have any built-in business at all before they acquired Frigidaire and Tappan?
