Has anyone else seen this? It looks like Redox may have sold the brand, because the label says "Distributed by CR Brands, Inc., Spartanburg, S.C."

I'm talking about the liquid version, by the way. The bottle is still green but the cap is yellow instead of white or green as with the Redox versions.

The powdered Oxydol on the store shelves is unchanged and still says it's distributed by Redox.

Redox Site:

Nothing has changed on the Redox site for Oxydol- but then, very little ever does, LOL.

I have to say, I tried Redox's version, didn't find it any better or worse at cleaning than what I was using, and I didn't like the scent. I really liked the way Oxydol smelled in the 1950s and '60s. There just wasn't any overwhelming reason for me to choose the Redox version.

Uh oh.....

That bottle looks like the same bottle for the EXTRA-CHEAPO "X-TRA" detergent that lines the Wal-Mart shelves. I sure hope it's not the same formula! X-TRA cleans about as well as just plain ole' water!

"That bottle looks like the same bottle for the EXTRA-CHEAPO "X-TRA" detergent that lines the Wal-Mart shelves."

Most likely, the same plastic bottle company, but not the same detergent (IIRC, XTRA was taken over by Church and Dwight, the "Arm and Hammer" people, although evidently the formula was not improved....

I'm finding these lowest-tier products like Solo, Dash, etc., that cop the names off our vintage products, are all pretty much lousy.....

The only one I've had a good experience with is "Sun", which is made by the same company that manufactures the Sears detergents . That seems to be a cut above the other cheapies.

I would have been much happier if a corporation like Henkel would have purchased the Oxydol brand name, and then released a high-quality, fragrant, low-suds powder with built-in oxygen bleach to complement their Purex line.

and this oxydol washes as if its cheap detergent..

a shame...
i bought it recently.. he type.. its as thin as water... disappointed and sad at the same time.. to take a great brand name and cheapen up that way... not the oxtdol i remember from time gone by...
