.
Yes it's a Brabantia i found on sale at Amazon.
OK, as you can see the 40+ year old unit was lookin' it's age. What with the rust, and broken line in multiple places, it's time was up.
But it did have a nice cement anchor which i re-used.
What i did was cut off the bent and corroded length that was below ground and used about 3 feet of old, but still good, galvanized pole. I also found a much more substantial wooden dowel core in our wood pile than what was provided (a short green pine/balsa-wood stick). I lubed up the recycled (ahem) shaft and drove her home with a mallet into the new pole.
Then i put the dowel into the hole and the newly configured mast slide down around it. The new pole sits above grade on the cement anchored by the old.
If i had used only the provided materials, i would have ended up with a much lower clothesline than we like; and i would have had to either dig out the cement, or relocate the unit off center of it's area of use.
This is because the new center pole is shorter, and of a larger diameter than the old... capish? [this post was last edited: 12/31/2015-16:49]
