What are you talking about?? Norge was NEVER made by WCI
In the late 1980's early 90's, when this washer was made for Montgomery Wards, Norge was owned by Maytag. Before that it was owned by Magic Chef(Magic Chef was swallowed up by Maytag in the 1980's) and before that Fedders and before that Borg-Warner. If I am not mistaken the basic design of this machine is pure Norge dating back to the 1950's (mechanically I mean). If I am wrong about that guys please let me know. PAT COFFEY

Painted basket. I had a couple of these for sale over the years, found in near-new shape. One needed a MTS rebuilt timer and another a pump. I sold an Admiral branded one to a couple of really hot college students who were overjoyed at the huge tub.

Good, but
These wash really well (even though they lack the drama of burp-a-lation), and smoked the CR ratings for capacity, but the plastic-coated metal tub must be watched as carefully as a Plastisol dishwasher. I've seen many with big, peeling strips of plastic coming up, and rust-o-rama underneath. Also be sure to check for oil in the basket; dumping the oil up into the wash is a common demise of these.

I would hild out for something better, anytthing!!!!! Go for
Although it is a Maytag owned Norge design, for a daily driver, hmmm not really. They were not known for reliable workmanship, hence what they retained at when then were new. I took a look in the back of Standard Tv and appliance several times, they always had and sometimes still do, have a couple of them sitting around with a broken tag on them. They are usually used up, and since it is made of plastic, you get the result of plastic, cracking, sometimes smelly, icky, rusty on the bottom under the machine. They do not have the turn over of the old ones. Plus, with the older machines, you have metal. I had a buddy of mine who had one; I told him, because he was my friend, sell it with your house, and buy at the very least a real Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore( this was 1998), his wife had c0mented to me that their clothes were cleaner w soap residue, ewww!! Just friendly advice.
