I was in Boston last week, and visited a house with two TOL maytags (still going wanting a home tuit suite!...see my post in Imperial)... anyhoo. The house belonged to a very nice guy who was unfortunately a hoarder, and my friend is settling the estate. Anyway, as he was showing me the place, I found an elderly Regina electric floor broom in a closet alcove...all but calling out to me: Take me home, love me, I'll clean your floors, I'm lightweight and FUN!

My friend told me it didn't work, but I had to try it, and sure enough...the absolutely filthy carpet (like you don't even want to know) quickly had a 2 foot square of cleanliness.

You should have seen the American Airline's agent's expression as I presented the insanely wrapped package for flight check in. TSA ruined my careful packing, I discovered on my arrival home, but safe and sound and ready to be cleaned and loved and put to work..

I'm blaming Robert's Fred... It's all his fault.

Ah yes, the electric broom.  I believe my mom had one for a while.

Bob, I'm afraid you've come down with a bad case if you went to the trouble of packaging the Regina to check it through.

Acknowledgement is the first step towards the cure, but in this particular situation denial offers way more entertainment.

Bob,

congrats on the Regina Electrik-Broom, even though I'm very much a Hoover fan I think Regina did the best with stick vacs.

I had one for ages to clean the laundry room with until the plastic bag topper cracked.

Next up we need to work on getting a nice brightly colored Hoover Convertible cleaner into your home as well

Sam

BTW do you have any pics to share?

I had a Regina electric broom with the power brush and it was great for quick cleanups on carpets. Very lightweight and convenient. Motor finally died but I got my moneys worth out of it. I would buy another in a heartbeat if they still made them. I have a cheap Kenmore Quickclean that does a real good job when I dont feel like dragging the heavy old Electrolux tank around.

In the late 70's & early 80's I had several cousins that got married and these were all the rage around here at the time for wedding gifts.  I remember asking my way too practical mother for one, but she felt that as long as she had a perfectly good Hoover Dial-A-Matic at home, she didn't need a stick vac.

My mom got one of these for Christmas in the mid or late 70's, was blue. I had the thing until about 10 yrs. ago when it picked up something it shouldn't, and the fan broke. Got a Shark after that, which was a piece of junk.

I used to have a Regina ElectricBroom with the power nozzle.I used to build electronic kits in my apartment-for myself and others.I had just completed building a Dynaco amp kit and used the Regina to pick up the wire clippings and such like on other kit building sessions.this time the poor Regina picked up a wire clipping-made a strange noise---then to my amasement--kinda funny,too-the nozzle and nozzle tube fell off the machine-the vacuum intake tube the floor nozzle fits on was cut off by the wire clipping as it got wrapped in the suction fan-cutting the plastic.Sad-liked the little machine-did wish the fancase and intake nozzle was METAL-then this probably wouldn't have happened. To this day still sort of chuckle about that machine-esp when I see one of those power nozzle Reginas.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread because today I bought a nice 3 speed Regina Electrik-Broom at one of our local thrift stores for $7.37.  It is exactly like the rust colored one in the link, reply #2.  I won't have time until Monday to look at it closer, but I did try it out at the store and the suction seems to be good.  I didn't find anything cracked or broken.  I had actually seen it when I was there Thursday and kind of hid it in a corner underneath some other stuff.

P.S. It's always good when the suction is good!

When I get the chance to inspect the Electrik-Broom further are there any problems that they're especially prone to that I should aware of?
