Its like a Kelvinator Kaleidoscope with a different picture each cycle! I've not see a Kelvinator Agitator with a cap and finish like yours. That makes it even more interesting. 95% of the fun is watching! You're the cool guy for making it happen.

COOL!

Nice retrofit Chris!! Definitely worth putting the lid in to catch that Kelvy Magic Minute! Where did you get this machine - it looks beautiful!!

OH Chris your '58 is beautiful! I've never seen a photo of yours. Quite a stunning machine - but now with a window! Nothing beats the washing drama like a Kelvinator. Well, maybe an Apex ;-)

It is funny you post this when you did. Last week I dropped off the 2 speed motor to my '59 at a welder to have him take the clutch off the motor, and to see if he can weld the old one. If he can fix it, great - otherwise I've got the one from you.

Love these AMC's!

hey ben your machine is way better its what gave me the shove to try and save mine.. she is as good as it gets for sittin in a barn for 20 years

well you know me. some 1/4 inch thick plex glass from the depot and the black trim is car wheel lip mold that i get from work. i had to edge the lid to make it look finished. i just tool the lid apart and traced the outline from the inner thing that holds the gasket ( should have taken a pic of that ) the drilled a hole and got the jigsaw into action. i was just happy it worked.

Way to Go Buddy!

Fantastic job bud! WHen do I get to come up and see some action? The mean the machine of course! lol

well the machine was in really sad shape so its as good as i can get. and well after all they are toys right. what was chrome was rusted through so now chrome is sliver paint and the light switch fell apart so its now a flip switch

What is up with Kelvy's agitator caps, anyway? I could swear the '58 I remember as a kid had a filter-flow style lint filter held in place by a large chrome knob. Yet Ben's has the older-looking red cap. Was the lint filter (serving as a detergent dispenser) an option? Was it's dad was a GE? It would be interesting to find out.

BTW - with it also windoless (MOL model, I believe) I NEVER knew how that thing worked until I joined this site.

Chris your "lid window" is great. Looks close enough to "factory" to me. Best of Luck. alr2903

yea this one came with a lint filter thing that is around here some place it sort of looks like whats on a ge filter flow but what ever cap that held the filter thing on is gone so it just flopped off.
