What is up with Kelvy's agitator caps, anyway? I could swear the '58 I remember as a kid had a filter-flow style lint filter held in place by a large chrome knob. Yet Ben's has the older-looking red cap. Was the lint filter (serving as a detergent dispenser) an option? Was it's dad was a GE? It would be interesting to find out.

BTW - with it also windoless (MOL model, I believe) I NEVER knew how that thing worked until I joined this site.

Chris your "lid window" is great. Looks close enough to "factory" to me. Best of Luck. alr2903

yea this one came with a lint filter thing that is around here some place it sort of looks like whats on a ge filter flow but what ever cap that held the filter thing on is gone so it just flopped off.

The window and seal

Not looking for a step by step or anything, but what did you use for the window and the seal, they look nice, the seal almost looks custom fit though?

Hamilton washer with windowed lid!

Was the lid porcelain? Sure wish you'd videoed the job. I can't imagine cutting porcelain and not chipping. I'd like to try that in some of my dryers, too.

Mmmmm. Anybody have a Hamilton washer that needs a window in the lid?

car wheel lip mold

Chris that is just beautiful, I'm very impressed!!! But I'm curious what exact is "car wheel lip mold" that you get at work? Can it be purchased at a retail store? I've been looking for rubber trim like that. Also does this lip mold hold the plexiglas tight in the lid?

the wheel lip mold is what car dealers put on the fenders over the wheels its a 3m product and its not really hard but sort of hard but flexable with dbl stick tape on the back to hold it on. i took a pic of a dif kelvy lid that dosnt fit this machine but there is a dark ring and 4 screws that hold the glass in. i just used the black mold to trim off the lid where you can see the edge. robert.. if you want some ill snag a few feet of it

Good work & Happy (belated) birthday.

Thanks, Chris for answering my question about the lint filter. Now I know I wasn't just delerious from the Downy fumes!

Great job on a great machine.
