Personally I have come to adore food-service places that keep a cat in the basement!

I have their cookbook and it has the recipes for their cheesecake among other lovely goodies that they have at the restaurant. No mice here!
Kind of cute little guy, but I wouldn't want him in my food or my house!
I doubt there's a restaurant/deli/grocery store in existence that's never had a rodent problem at some point.
I love to cook and bake, so I rarely buy pre-made food and almost never eat out. I keep the kitchen counters and floor clean, and have never had a mouse visit.
There are a few "neighborhood" cats wandering about; they probably take care of the problem.

A place one never has or would order any sort of food.
Fairly regular there is a local news program showing the infestation of rats in food stores/vendors at GCT. Indeed considering GCT is an underground RR terminal, with numerous sub-ground tunnels and such, not to mention the subways.
In my younger days worked at the then "Pan Am" builing, and the construction and maintainence workers would tell horrible tales of rodents running throught the walls of the building.

Two Cats
I have pretty much given up consuming any fast food anywhere - including the lunch wagon that stops by the factory three times a day. I bring my own food in a soft thermal bag. It saves $$$ as well. Not sure if mice live on mobile lunch wagons, but it wouldn't surprise me. Roaches too.
Two cats keep my home rodent free. Except for the rodent parts the killer outdoor cat occasionally drags inside as some sort of offering, or the live mouse that the indoor cat brings in unscathed and then lets loose inside the house. She's even brought in live hummingbirds, all of which I managed to rescue and release. Don't know if they survived or not. One was half grown and barely conscious.
