Zanussi FJ1033

Hey guys!,
Well, it paid off, waiting that is!, i found myself a zanussi jetsystem from 1991/92 1000rpm!

It could be a worker, however the seller doesnt know, as its been in storage for 18months, i'm going to get her tonight and then we'll go from their, i now have a new job working for euronics in lincolnshire! Really good prospects & i can get things at cost price! So parts & a nice shiney new washer for the kitchen! I'm contemplating an insight, but we'll save that for another thread lol.

anywhoooo. I love zanussi, they definately have a special place in my heart, those of you who have seen my other oldschool zanussi (the wtd1061 washer/dryer), it & my new fj1033 are siblings from the same range, however the wtd1061 i already have is the "traditional" washer/dryer & the fj1033 is the jetsystem washing machine.

Heres a piccie of the new arrival, she needs abit of a clean up but looks well other than that.

Long time no speak, I hope you are well.

A friend of mine had the washer dryer version which was rather fun. My AEG 2200 was essentially a Zanussi and was quite lively on spins. Had quite fast interim spins so lots of water down the glass.

I hope it's a good machine, I have never really seen the Jetsystem working properly.

Hey Darren

Congrats on the machine and also the job!

Dont ya just love cost price goodies- in my mind one of the MAJOR advantages of working for an Euronics dealer as opposed to the 10% you get at Comet etc .

And then of course theres all those gems to be rescued from the scrap pile

Seamus, cudnt agree more, who needs discount cards when you can have cost price on spares & new machines Not to mention the free for all on the scrap pile

The new insight cud b within my price range now. though i've heard some bad press about the rinsing, which is y im holding back atm.

Well were on our way to fetch it from stamford now, will get some pics up and a status report when i get back!

Assuming you order your Electrolux group machines that are not in central stock through tradeplace its well worth checking the monthly offers - there are some serious bargains on there some months ! . I know a couple of Insights were on there last month . My old style one and the matching dryer were silly offers the rep offered us tho
Will have to chat at some point !

Alriiiiiite!
Well last night myself and jon went to stamford to fetch my beauty. We were met by polish guy who was very nice and polite, he said he didnt no if the machine worked or not had been outside "for long time". lol I thought it would end up being a long restoration project requiring many parts. When we parted the chap did a classic over the top "BYEEE!"

We got it home, had a mcdonalds, cleaned the cobwebs out the bottom. Washed it down with soapy water. I'm going to order a new dispenser housing for it cause its pretty mouldy!,

After it was all clean i gingerly plugged it in, i didn't want it to blow the electrics, my g.f would kill me lol.

I ran it through a spin it made a slight rattley noise but i think it was blowing the cobwebs out from being stood so long!

Then we put some water in, it seemed okay! the jetsystem works just fine!

It recirculates through the paddles and cascades over the rim of the door and looks like rain is the best way to describe it!
Not to dissimilar to the yellow fin jet on the last range of jetsystems!

Once functionality was confirmed we got some old towels and ran it through a wash.

The thing i love about zanussi's is, they dont mess about. They do it properly! No messin!

So heres a brief description of the wash cycle Cotton 40!

The jet comes on straight away, it has a nice tumble speed. Not offensively loud at all, theres some motor noise, which i've missed since owning a supersilent machine!

It heats, washes for abit a nice thorough speed. then it drains, unlike my other zanussi it doesn't spin after the wash or 1st rinse, but (this is made up for later).

So where was i?..ah yes, it drained,1st rinse! it filled up to where the glass becomes flat, drained, same again with the 2nd rinse, then it span and did 4 long bursts, i was happy with that!

Then 3rd rinse, after 3rd rinse, it flys up to top speed with a really effective spin! water cascaded all down the glass like on most of the spins!

Then for the final rinse, yep thankfully this beauty is a 4 rinse wonder

Final spin. if you select the letter on the dial it goes straight to distribution then up to the constant spin, but on a normal programme it does a couple of bursts, stops for some anticrease, then goes for it with what i think is about 600rpm, for 4 mins then up to 1000, which i cut short as it was gettin late.

So for something i won for 90p on ebay! i'm chuffed! It needs some love and a good clean out, right now shes doina boilwash as i write this at 10am. to clean everything out, I've topped the waterlevel up so it can rid the small amounts of mould in the doorseal.

Once i've finished with it, its going to live in the shed outside, as my g.f is very accommodating! I've still yet to get rid of her old indesit which is proping a fence panel that blew in the wind lol & My hotpoint WM43 thats stood in the kitchen lol!!!!

Btw- seamus!-Yes we do use tradeplace! Everythings the same as i've used at the co-op thankfully! So i'll keep my eye on some bargains.
