Site layout/navigating the ‘new’ AW site

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

In time, it will probably slowly become how it was in terms of the layout.

Just see it as the equivalent of the local grocery store that had a major renovation done and everything has been completely rearranged.

@Alan - do you know if/when the mass update for profiles who had paid/upgraded memberships on the old platform will be fully migrated over? Besides myself, I'm not seeing nearly the amount of upgraded profiles for others on AW 2.0.

Thanks! Ben
I am checking your account and should have an update shortly.

It looks like they gave all the upgraded members from the old site Platinum which is the highest tier. There are several tiers below Platinum which are much cheaper - the lowest one was $20 or $30 a year, which gives most of the upgraded features from the old site if I remember correctly. But you can't see the lower tier options when you're already at Platinum.

Overall it is a price increase from the old site but to be fair, it looks like there will be some extra functionality that the old site didn't have.
We had the incorrect pricing in and have changed it to be based on the prior Premium pricing. So please check it out again when you have time.
I apologize for the incorrect pricing initially displayed.

Good evening all, I just logged on today on the ‘new’ AW, while the site hasn’t fallen off of the face of the earth (knock on wood), I find it’s a lot different than the old AW site. The good thing is you can edit or delete posts and send DMs on top of getting notifications when someone likes a post, but the downside is you can’t go onto the older threads as easily. Tried going onto the thread of where resurrected my Whirlpools, but just stops loading halfway, even when I try to click back, still won’t let me. Have to essentially close the browser and start all over again.

Hopefully the site layout slowly turns back to what it once was, or something reminiscent. Kinda tricky since everything is all over the place at the moment.

So is this a permanent change for this website? Is this how it’s going to look from now on? This is really difficult to navigate

Thank you for that analogy. I think it's an accurate example. :)

Can you explain what's difficult to navigate, and I may be able to clarify things to help you?

Just hope the layout is reminiscent of what it once was at time marches on. Use this site for technical information, currently in the process of trying to get these going again (at least the dryer), along with tips and tricks to make a diagnosis a bit easier. 49A90893-CBB9-40FC-8F5F-9BB00928D9E4.jpeg

Alan,
So, I looked at my member page and it now shows $96.00 annually for Platinum, instead of $200.00, but this is still more than I’m willing to pay. There is mention of other upgraded levels from $20 to $30 per year, but for the life of me I can’t find anywhere on the site that gives any detail of the different upgrades, what they cost and what additional features that they include. Can you please let us all know where we may find this info. My upgraded membership expires in 10 days and I’d like to know what my options are. BTW, will members receive a notice when their upgraded days have expired and how to renew? Thanks!

Eddie

@ea56, at the end of this year, your membership will expire, and you will then be able to see all the benefits of each level. I see that at this time, you can only see your level. Let me discuss this with the lead tech, as each level is usually visible, and your level with an expiration date will be displayed at the bottom.

Bronze, the allowance for file attachments presumably includes existing photos on posts across all the years of history?

Gold, "First look at classifieds (4-hr early access)" ... does that refer to Shoppers Square, and mean there's a 4-hr delay for less-than-Gold members to see new posts?

Re:#40
Thanks Alan for updating the upgrade info on my user info page. My current upgraded membership expires in 10 days and now I have the info available to me so I can make an informed decision. I don’t envy you, you are going to have LOTS of questions from all of us on AW until we get more familiar with the new format. Thanks for your patience.

Eddie

"Forums" page screenshot. Sections with new posts since the last visit have the icon highlighted and the title bold. Those not changed since the last visit have the icon grayed and the title not bold.

I didn’t have to reset my password. I entered my USER NAME, not my REAL name and then entered my same password and got right on.

I almost didn’t enter my user name because the login page directed “enter name”, but then my common sense got the better of me and I realized that my password was linked to my USER NAME, not my real name. I’m wondering if those that had to reset their passwords didn’t use their recognized user name and thereby created another account by using their real name and resetting the password?

Anyway, perhaps changing the login page field to “user name” rather than just enter name may solve this glitch?

Just a thought.

I religiously used the "Latest Posts" option on Robert's version of AW from the first day it was available and quickly tried "What's New" here on my first encounter with the new format. Is it the same? No, but it did render the latest posts. I still prefer the various color shades that gave an immediate indication of which forum a post was generated from. Now they all look the same. I also have yet to see the ability to "hide" on the new version. Choosing "ignore" doesn't provide anything permanent. I know I'll get used to the comparatively plain and less intuitive format that resembles so many others out there, but it will take time to figure it all out. For now, I feel like Dorothy just woke up.

My name, "ultramatic" needs to be capitalized, Ultramatic. I tried to fix it, but it does not give me that option. Also, my profile is set up as if I was a member of Vacuumland. This is incorrect, it should be in Automatic Washer. Also, does the member block option still exists? Has it changed?

The Links in Modern Living are a mess. I would guess all multi section threads are too.
Matt,
I believe that you just need to click on “view thread” directly below the post in all the jumbled words and all the photos in the thread can be viewed. They don’t automatically come up like they used to, but all the photos seem to be crystal clear.

Well yesterday I couldnt find the different forums, deluxe, imperial, super, it’s now on the home page it wasn’t there before though. It was just showing a list of different threads and it was a mess. That was all, much better now. Although I really miss the old website and how old fashioned it was

That's odd. The full Forums list page has been accessible for me since day 1 via clicking the word Forums on the top navigation bar.

ETA: The Forums list page also (currently) opens as the default for automaticwasher.org. I don't recall if perhaps it didn't at the beginning while configuration tweaks were in progress. I always access the site by typing automaticwasher.org into my browser.
