Rear-control induction stoves rise from the dead.

A pair of Frigidaires wait in the wings. Listed as "not in stock" at Home Depot and not yet appearing on the induction stoves home page at Frigidaire.com. A few independent appliance dealers are listing them.

You'd think they'd offer a basic rear-control Hotpoint induction stove but Haier severely cheapened the brand: No more smooth-top electric stoves (coil only), no self-cleaning ovens.

What do you mean? GE and Profile models are still made with smooth tops in both rear and front controls. Maybe not Hotpoint. I thinks it's more of a cheap builder/rental grade brand now.

GE gas and electric front- and rear-control: yes. Induction: all front control. I even checked Cafe.

And now they're officially for sale. Note that the cheaper model doesn't have Air Fry as stated. I notified Home Depot via live chat a couple days ago. It'll be interesting to see which variant turns up as IKEA's house model.

Mine's been performing like a champ and Air Fry makes a darn good pizza.

I do hope rear control ranges stick around for many kitchens. It’s just the better choice.

I would never use convection or the air fryer setting for baking pizzas, etc. as you can see they’re always uneven. Baking should be done in a very even temperature oven when you turn on the convection fan it never cooks evenly. I do like convection for doing meats, roast, chickens, turkeys, etc.

The next logical step is adding black and white to the color choices in addition to stainless steel. For some, that's the deal breaker, especially with novelty appliance makers charging thousands of dollars for retro-styled induction stoves in multiple colors.

I always run convection for (frozen) pizza ... usually multi-rack (convection element), occasionally single-rack (bake element).

I'm over Stainless steel color. I do like the GE slate.
