So, I got this Washer a couple months back because my previous washer had a transmission issue. Of all the modern washers I know of it seems to be the most true to the early 2000's and 2010's washers. Even the gauges resemble the 1990's GE washers, so there is some nostalgic element about it.

This machine is very basic. It has 6 cycles. The Drain and Spin cycle would be the most useful one incase of an unbalanced load. I like that it has Manual Water level select, and it has good Temperature Options. It really is "just" a Washer. It isn't particularly exciting, but it has a lot less that can go wrong with it compared to some other Modern Machines out there. I doubt this washer is going to last more than 5 years considering it is a modern washer.

Only con about it other than the fact that it is a modern washer is that it is fairly loud during agitation. GE washers have a habit of being horribly loud, at least the more modern ones.

That GE design really has a horrible sound to it - not only is it fairly noisy, the quality of noise itself is pretty unpleasant in my ears.

But with these, those very basic machines are a great choice especially with the manual water level selector.
The dual action GE's are even worse. I know because I had one from 2021-2025. That particular model had a really bad time balancing and couldn't balance itself out no matter what. For some reason this Hotpoint doesn't have that issue.

What washer did you have previously? What makes the washers 1990's looking? I miss the filter-flos.

I have a feeling the motor and gearbox are tiny compared to what they used before. And yes, they do sound like an animal dying.

GE and Hotpoint are the same brand. It's just that Hotpoint is GE's budget brand. Profile in the laundry room is more upscale.

It was a washer similar to this one. I had one similar to this when I grew up, and that was around the early 2000's that my family had this washer. The knob design looks similar.

I am well aware of that, yes. The GE ones I have had in the past sounded different than this Hotpoint, which is more tolerable.

JEEZ!
The Part 2 of that machine running....... is utterly horrible!
What JUNK!

The basket rocks back and forth, it wobbles on its suspension, the transmission clicks and clacks.........looks and sounds like some hunk of garbage that a 12 year old put together.
This especially was true on normal/fast and super water level, and extra heavy cottons setting. And you could hear the underwater muffled banging. Yes, we used laundry detergent and fabric softener properly which did the job.
