I stopped using Ariel for the exact same reasons (the water in our area is borderline soft/medium). The amount of foam Ariel generated was unreal. I've never had any suds issues with Persil and it cleans just as good, if not better.

I've switched to usually washing at 40 instead of 30 and there is a noticeable difference as the clothes seem to smell "fresher" then what they did, I also don't need to use the Intensive Wash button as much either.

I'd recommend you take a look at the Siemens/Bosch ranges, but watch out for loose worktops! Our Siemens (the IQ300 one) is not bad at all at drying, the sensor is very accurate and the drying times are not too bad ether, the only down sides are the 2.5 KG drying capacity and it is a bit...

I've seen the new Aqualits and Ultima machines the other day at Currys. The Ultima seems pretty sturdy, and the door handle is quite substantial. The detergent draw did seem a bit on the flimsy side though. The new Aqualits has new curvy paddles with a rectangular base and has "Titanium"...

I think the distinctive style of the filter flap, front panelling, door size and position make the similarities between the new Hoover and Candy models quite apparent. In term of style, i bet future generations of Hotpoint and Indesit will look more alike too.

I think this was one of the first Candy designed Hoovers (correct me if I'm wrong). It looks almost new! What is its wash/dry performance like?

I spotted this Evo/Hoover hybrid washer dryer today in Costco:

ultimafan... I hope so! Mind you it's had to have a new worktop to replace the original loose/rattling one. Apart from that it seems to be well built. The drum also looks very similar to supremewhirlpol's Ariston washer dryer.
