I have the same question Stan. Here in the UK there are adverts on TV often about this sort of thing, the leading brand being Calgon, with their catchy jingle "Washing machines live longer with Calgon!"

If a washer motor is anything like a Vacuum Cleaner motor, it'll over rev with no belt, so I wouldn't recommend it. Just as I wouldn't recommend running a Vacuum Cleaner with no belt, with the exception of older models (Juniors for example) which deliberalely lifted the belt off the motor...

Well I started using it today and all I can say is it works fantastically, with a much stronger scent than any scented tablets I've ever used. I only need a tablespoon of it per wash for my Bosch Tabletop Dishwasher so it'll last a long time for under £5!

Recently I've seen in the supermarkets various brands of Dishwasher Cleaning Liquid that you (to the best of my knowledge) put in the dishwasher then set it for a wash and it cleans out the arteries, pump etc... But, do they actually work and secondly, even if they do, are they strictly necessary ?

Am I right in saying that the filters (coarse and fine) are the same as in the Bendix 7414 ?

Well to give you an idea of how dry the clothes come out of my machine with 1000RPM spin, they only need 60-90 minutes in the Bendix 7414 to be bone dry.

Spin speeds that is. My current washer, a 2011 BEKO WM5100W has a 1000RPM spin speed which at first, going from my 1600RPM spin Zanussi, I thought would be way too little, but it actually drains just as well, despite being drastically slower, plus the slower spin speed should, theoretically...

Actually, correction, I think it is the colder the wash the longer it takes. Sorry, my brain is working about as fast as a Windows 95 PC just now.

It is the opposite with the 5100, the hotter the wash the longer it takes. Pees me off to be honest. It is a reliable machine though so I'm reluctant to part with it...
