All ready have turned the heat on

Plenty of heat here . . . How I would love to send a little heat to anyone else, anywhere! It has hit 108 the last two days under my patio cover, plus some humidity, ugh! Today is supposed to be another nasty one but then cooler Wednesday, hopefully this will be the last serious heat wave for...

Washer in "Middle of the Night"

The vacuum looks a lot like a Fairfax. Hans (norgeway) will know for sure, no quality canister vac escapes him. Clearly this was a posh house, too bad we can't see the kitchen and garage!

    Kitchenaid KDS-20 control panel modification

Looks to me like you could get a piece of Formica in an appropriate color and texture and have a long slot cut in the middle, then adhere it to the face of the panel. The brushed chrome in the center of the panel with the controls would then be visible in the slot, not a bad look with a charcoal...

    Collapsible Sand Blasting Booth

Looks good, glad to see it come to life! Someone should make something like this commercially available.

    Philco washer w-2F4 arrives

Fascinating Washer . . . Love seeing these "naked" pics, thanks for posting! Philco was certainly creative in their engineering. What was the last year for this "high frequency"design with "ball point balance"? After it ended was Philco reduced to marketing generic washers under their name?

Sweden's Electrolux to buy GE appliances

Well, LG does stand for "Lucky Goldstar" and we do all hope to get lucky by last call, don't we?

    Collapsible Sand Blasting Booth

That Singer looks to be about the same color as your Filter Queen, it was meant to be!

    Whirlpool's Miracle Gas Kitchen

Hmmm . . . I had always assumed that Rosie the Robot was electric but after seeing all the exiting gas technology of the time I'm now wondering if she plugged herself into a gas outlet every evening.

Downsizing: Have You? Are You? Planning To?

I am familiar with one very nice mobile home park in an expensive area west of LA. It's gated and full of protected mature oak trees; the homes there usually go for between $250,000 and $400,000 including a 4000-5000 sf lot. Most of them are from the '70s, a few have been replaced with newer...

Maybe It's Time . . . For Scott & Fetzer to introduce an updated version of the Wireless Vacuette . . .

    An Update from Aunt Barbara

Rex . . . Like Aunt Barbara says, there is a Tupperware product for every budget, certainly one for your sandwiches. Why on earth would you be afraid of her and want to hide under the bed? She’s just an ordinary Long Island housewife who loves her makeup and happens to shlep a little Tupperware...

Oh my, one job becomes two, good luck with this!

What do you miss most about an old car...

A good friend of mine worked as an engineer for Chrysler in Detroit during the '70s. He got to know some of the guys in the dyno room and was surprised that the engine the older guys remembered most fondly was the 426 max wedge, not the hemi. The hemi breathed better at high rpm but the 426...

    An Update from Aunt Barbara

Aunt Barbara has been one of the top Tupperware sellers for years now and has the best videos, gotta love 'em. She does seem to have put on a few pounds lately but the new hairdo is fabulous.

What do you miss most about an old car...

I saw a very nice '66 or '67 Riv on the Ventura Freeway yesterday. I love 'em in black with no vinyl top, this one had a modern paint job in black over very dark blue. Wouldn't be my choice but from a distance it looked all black and was without question the best looking car on the freeway. One...

    My Fiat abarth

Nifty! Those are nice cars and lots of fun. A buddy of mine bought one of the very first 500s in SoCal to replace an Alfa 164 that was just too big for city driving. This was before the turbo was available so his doesn't have that but he's been very pleased with the car. It's been reliable...

    Landline and Mobile Telephones

I doubt if the systems in the UK are much different than those in the US. Here it’s a crapshoot and depends on what the problem is. A wired landline is vastly simpler than a cellphone, the basic technology is after all over a century old and it takes little power to run, none of which comes from...
