    Tide he Turbo

suds level Why do we even need suds? Marketing gimmick is all the suds are. Suds don't contribute to the cleaning. It's a holdover from ancient times (the time of my youth....the 1950's). I'd like to be able to buy a good detergent with no suds...end of problems.

We Haven't Had A Telephone Thread For A Long Time

wonderful vids As an employee of the Bell System prior to divestiture and still an employee of a "good old telephone company" that has moved into the twenty first century, I certainly enjoyed the vids. thanks!!!!

HE Detergent in Top Load Washer, opinions please...

HE vs. regular I contacted Proctor and Gamble regarding the dosage and was told that if I wanted to use HE versions of any of their detergents in my traditional TL washer, to use the same amount as was listed on the box for HE machines. I have done this mainly for suds control and have been...

HE, Eco, Low water and Energy, lets hear your positive experiences!

low energy, water I don't think the thread is limited to washing machines, so I will include my dishwasher.....Maytag Quiet Series 300. It does a fantastic job of cleaning and I have had very few "washovers". I did have to discover that all or most of the options had to be chosen to give...

    too much foam

removing rinse agent I couldn't use a turkey baster as the opening for the rinse agent is a tiny slit, not the hole that most dishwashers have. However, I did use a shop vac and pulled the rinse agent out and then flushed it twice with water. Will post update later this evening. I am having...

    too much foam

too much rinse aid seems to be the answer and I was almost certain that was the issue, but just needed some confirming opinions from all of the experts here. I've turned the knob to minimum some time ago, but the foam still is there. I think I will let the dispenser go "dry" and see what...

    too much foam

My Maytag Quiet Series 300 has recently had a lot of foam in the bottom of the tub at the end of a cycle. Also, during the last 5 minutes of the final rinse, the machine sounds like it is laboring heavily to move this foam through the wash system. I've checked during the rest of the cycle and...

    Cleaning Stove Top Grates

ammonia in a bag It does work great!!! I cleaned mine Friday night/Saturday morning the way described in my former post....all I had to do was take a nylon scrubber and wipe them off, rinse well and dry. Thanks for the large garbage bag tip. That will be much easier than four gallon...

    Cleaning Stove Top Grates

link to grate cleaning Try this: it looks almost effortless compared to some of the ways I have tried to clean my grates. http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/2011/10/i-saw-it-i-tried-it-cleaning-the-grates-on-your-gas-stove/

My sisters pretend Maytag laundry room

You do deserve the "brother of the year" award. Any of us, and some "outsiders" would recognize both of those as being Maytags. And the sad part is, they probably will last longer than the new "pretend" Maytags on the market today....(can you tell I am not a fan of the brand since Whirlpool...

    Fabric Softner

advertising I find it interesting/amusing that the only ad that names a product in a thread that is basically bashing P & G (and I agree with the bashing) is for one of their products.

    Illegal Clothesline Spotted

hanging "unmentionables" My grandmother never had a dryer. She did her wash on Saturday and her clothelines were in her front yard. She would hang her "unmentionables" on a line that was in between two other lines that were hung with towels and sheets...no one could see what was on the middle...

    Our Daily Driver Home Phone

old telephones There is a company in NC that sells rebuilt Western Electric and other similar phones....www.chicagooldtelephone.com. I've bought several from them. A little pricey, but well worth it, considering the price of today's junk home phones.

Remodeling Kitchen , thinking of going from a 24 inch dishwasher to a 18 inch dishwasher

my two cents My neighbors didn't have a dishwasher and decided to install an 18" model. They used it for about six months before replacing it with a 24" machine. The smaller one just didn't work for them.

    Our Daily Driver Home Phone

work with some networks I'm glad to know that, because there are many collectors who love their old phones. I'm one of them. I have over 20 Bell System phones that I have bought over the years. I use them in rotation and they definitely have very clear reproduction. I also have a WE 202 from...

    Our Daily Driver Home Phone

how will they work the old phones work well with real telephone lines provided by a real telephone company, but won't work with the crap that the cable companies and other providers sell as "telephone". Real phones work during power faiures, too. (can anyone tell that i have worked/did work/do...

Brand New 1941 Washer - Never used!!

I am not offended, but I don't quite understand how hard it is to know that placing an apostrophe and  the letter "s" at the end of a word does NOT make that word plural.  I learned that rule of grammar or spelling in the 3rd grade.  Maybe this is not taught anymore.  Another thing that was...
