If This Don't Take All I Don't Know What Does

I mean... whenever we buy a new appliance we research the hell out of them. We ask people who have owned them if they like them, etc. But to buy something as expensive as a dishwasher sight unseen is something else. Two years ago this same woman bought a new dryer with the steam option. Had...

If This Don't Take All I Don't Know What Does

Remember awhile back I was dealing with a neighbor and her washing machine that wouldn't wash and her dishwasher that wouldn't clean? Nutty woman down the street. Today she did something that even shocked the crap out of me! She's been complaining for awhile that her DW doesn't clean well. I...

Sears Quietly Launches First Kenmore-Branded TVs

I think the last time I saw a Silvertone anything for sale at Sears was back around 1964 or so.

    Studebaker.

There is a company in Houston that deals with Delorean's. They have what's left of the tooling and will either completely restore your DeLorean or build you a new one from scratch. For a price.... http://www.delorean.com/

Settled on a Mazda 5 or a Mazda MPV.. Thoughts?? Any owners here

Our neighbor has a Mazda Tribute, I think a 2006. It's virtually indestructible. Very reliable. But parts through Mazda are insanely expensive. Rock Auto is your best bet for those.

    Studebaker.

And each and every one of those Avanti's were hand built rather than mass produced. Just like the Buick Reatta was. For 1963, it was quite some car. The interiors looked more like an airplane cockpit than an auto.

    Another new mattress thread

Our members have a lot of experience with consumer products. It's a nice feature to have. We are on our second Stearns & Foster mattress. This one we purchased in 1987. Still relatively lump/depression free. We'll probably end up with another S&F. When we buy a new bed it takes us about 10...

    Studebaker.

One of our neighbors had a bullet nose Studebaker, I used to get to ride in it when the neighbor and my mother went grocery shopping together when I was a kid. It was huge inside. You could even flip up the arm rests in the back and had two huge storage bins there. The windows were so angular...

    Wally World in trouble

A few years ago Walmart dropped some major name brands in favor of more of it's Great Value brand line up. This was especially true in their frozen foods section. What happened was instead of buying the Great Value brand, customers started going to stores where the now vanished from Walmart...

    Celery as salad

One way we enjoy celery is to cut each stalk into 4 inch long sections and fill the center V with Cream Cheese and then dust with Paprika. Nice little snack.

To Carpet or Not To Carpet Your Bath!

When we bought this house both of the bathrooms had wall to wall carpeting in them. While not too bad, both bathrooms had an odor to them. We replaced one bathroom with slate flooring and the other with a nice almond colored porcelain tile. No more smells. But that slate floor will tear up a...

    HVAC central air in particular

American Standard 3 ton single unit. Installed in 2011. It'll freeze you our even on a 100F day. We keep it at 76F, which is cold enough for us. The biggest advantage to this unit was how it reduced our electric bill. With our older (1994) Trane XL unit we were averaging about $180-$200 per...

    Beautiful Frigidaire Set Up North

I wonder who did the restoration and how they found all the needed parts? It's not like parts for these machines are readily available.

    Best Home Water Softener?

At school the town of Ruston, LA has very, very soft slimy water direct out of the water system. It seemed like it took forever to wash soap out of your hair and off your body when showering. No matter where you were in town, on campus or in a private home the water was the same, slimy feeling.

    Bugs in dishwasher

When we first bought this house it had been vacant for about 6 months before we moved in. The first thing we noticed is that it had spiders everywhere. We'd spray and spray and still the spiders came. Big ones, little ones, yuck. Finally we went to our county agent and he told us that we...

    Bugs in dishwasher

When we first moved to Houston we lived in an apt that turned into a roach castle. They landlord used to spray monthly. We had no roaches. Then some residents said they didn't like the spray and didn't want their units sprayed at all. A few months later the roaches came en force! I did my...

    Bugs in dishwasher

Here is Texas we have lots of roaches out in the yard. They seem to love mulch in the garden. We'd occasionally see one in the dishwasher if the door was just pushed to rather than shut all the way. Eventually I replaced the seal at the bottom of the rear door of our house. Since I have done...

    70s men's fashions...

We used to joke that you can take polyester clothes and they'd stand up in the closet without a hangar! When I was in college (1970-74) my mother used to buy me clothing that was "double knit" as they used to call it. Which was fine for living up in Chicago. But I was doing my flight training...

    JAB Holding Purchases Krispy Kreme

Here in Houston they opened up three locations the same day way back in 1996. After about 18 months KK pulled the franchise permissions from all three locations due to squabbling with the mothership. Now this year, they opened one across town. We'll see how that works out. The franchisee's...
