    Nutone Blender Hunt

We have one built in that I LOVE- I use it for grinding 5-spice, blending, grinding meat, making corned beef hash, etc. Our blender vessel is pink without handle. The lid is black with a pink plastic insert. Chuck

Crunchy Split Pea Soup -- Why?

I've not heard of adding baking soda According to Cook's Kitchen, baking soda also softens cornmeal for polenta so it doesn't need the constant stirring. I tried making baked beans from scratch a few times many years ago but they were always hard. I tried both the overnight soak and the...

Ken, I concur with what Mr. Cone said above. Chuck

Nick- Proportions on the butter, lemon and Worcestershire please? I love bbq chicken but this will be a nice change! And I see a bottle of Tabasco in the background? Why such a small one? LOL! I guess not everyone buys the 12oz size! Chuck

The Puzzle of the 1946 Vornado 10D1 solved

So you figured out the trick too ? Nah. This particular one is a simpler design with a single nacelle from aprox the early '50's (B28C1-1, web pic). A couple of screws and done! Chuck

The Puzzle of the 1946 Vornado 10D1 solved

Looks nice, Jon! I had some metal-to-metal vibration on one of ours where the support goes through the nacelle because the grommet had hardened and flaked away. I was actually able to find a replacement at Lowes in the "drawers of goodies" in the fastener area. I'm sure Ace would have them as...

    Farberware Ultra Chef

Ralph, I couldn't agree more. No measurements? No shot of the finished product? Of course, I don't think I would have wanted to see those "folded" pork chops having gotten a glimpse of them! Chuck

    Farberware Ultra Chef

Cool unit- I just took a look at a couple of YouTube vids for it. Chuck

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

Honorary paisono here No cooked veg side here... usually a salad. If a cooked veg is included it's because it's part of the dish, a la broccoli & chicken alfredo or cacciatore. No mac in the chili either. In each area of the US you'll see regional variations in the foods. For example...

    Cement birdbath help

Thomas, it's not the weight of the birds... it's the weight of the cement! LOL! Gansky- I never thought of Press & Seal!! I repaired a cousin's one-piece steps and had to fill some vertical areas- I used duct tape. It removed pretty cleanly... well, most of it! I had to take some solvent to...

    Cement birdbath help

Thanks, Thomas, ... but as I said, this needs to be a structural repair. Flex seal and a skim coat of plaster will not accomplish the goal. I bought the Rapid Set mix linked above after consulting with a mason. Gansky- if I wasn't looking for structural for a heavy piece, the Rustoleum was...

    U.S. coin shortage?

Jim... As I said above, "However, if you turn your coins into an e-gift card or donate the coins to charity, there's no fee." Looking at the list, if Lowe's is still on there, I'm for that all the way! Yes, it's less than an hour to wrap, but if I can use it fee-free somewhere I already spend...

    U.S. coin shortage?

Eddie- Always faced and in order here too. I learned it from the "older" ladies I worked at atmy first real job post newspaper delivery. That way, you never mixed the bills up and lessened the chance of giving a wrong bill in change from the till. re: the change machines at grocery stores...

    Cement birdbath help

Thanks guys, but the idea is for whatever I use to be somewhat structural because this birdbath has been here for 50+ years and somewhat sentimental. If it were just a case of sealing, the clear Flex Seal would have already been done. And Thomas, no! The little "darlin's" already have fountains...

    U.S. coin shortage?

So, any ideas on what's causing it?? Can't be that there is that much "exact change" used by consumers that the CV closures have affected it, can it? Chuck

    Cement birdbath help

Thanks Gansky. Is it a rigid final product capable of taking weight? Or flexible? How's the adhesion factor? Paul-thanks, but trying to save the structure of the original. Cool easy fix though! Chuck

    U.S. coin shortage?

May not be the right forum, but has anyone else heard of this? I didn't know it was a thing" 'till I saw the sign at Lowe's checkout. Chuck

German Potato Salad I only make it once or twice a year because it isn't Rich's favorite. Love it the first day warm then cold is fine unless I employ the microwave! Chuck

Penne Rustica Mike- I found several versions (Epicurious, Food.com, etc.). Is there a particular one you use and did you do any tweaking (not twerking! LOL!) to it? Chuck

Help to troubleshoot cause of problem with Kenmore (GE?) range

I think in this case a generic thermometer will do. $0.02 worth... If you can, order a digital one off of Amazon, eBay..... they are usually better for testing than the dial analog models. I say ordering as I went nuts looking for one locally about a year back and couldn't find one in-store...
