This Just In: Australian Finish Gone "Phosphate Free"

And another one bits the dust - quite sadly. I recently noticed the local grocery store briefly stopped carrying the Finish dishwashing powder - although the tag and space was still there (and the tag still possessed an order code, instead of "DELETE" indicating the line was NLA). Well...

New Vechicle - Own Or Lease?

Family Always Owned Outright We have always been taught to save for what we want, rather than borrow money - obviously because that costs you more and then you're investing on a depreciating item... Someone tell me a 2015 Camry is going to be "worth something" one day? Current daily is a 1993...

    Pre-Radar Transcontinental Airway System

Very Interesting! Its interesting an actual system of visual navigation aids were used to aid the early pioneering pilots. I didn't realise radio navigation came so much later. OBTW, Ben: That 727 flap sequence was filmed from the ramp of Perth airport - the disaster that happens to be the...

GE PDT750 Takes John's (combo52) Peanut Butter Test

@dadoes I'm glad you had far better results than I - although you did the right thing and used a "Normal" cycle that actually is a normal cycle. Will be repeating the test in a couple of days, and will post results.

GE PDT750 Takes John's (combo52) Peanut Butter Test

@gansky1 I use the Delicates because its more than enough for most all everyday soils, and even some casserole dishes thru the oven. Gentler spray, yes and an extra rinse, plus "guaranteed heating." "NORMAL," despite the moniker cuts the wash time by at least 10 minutes every time for no...

    whirlpool gold piece of crap

Reply #6 Has it Right If the DW isn't performing:    Fix it, leave it ailing and waste by pre-rinsing or just get your rubber gloves, sink plug, sponges and brush and get to work.

GE PDT750 Takes John's (combo52) Peanut Butter Test

Now Its My Turn And the results weren't perfect... Or anything close.    In the machine's defence, I only used the Delicate cycle - 50C (122F) wash for 26 minutes, 3 rinses with the final at 60C (140F). Had I used the Heavy cycle - things would have improved, although I wanted to be fair...

GE PDT750 Takes John's (combo52) Peanut Butter Test

Reply #27 Well, that just partially or fully destroyed any claims that a GE tower wash can't do the job. That, and the fact Bob had always spoke highly of his old 1200 is more than good enough for me. Will keep an eye on the dishwasher here and squeeze a few PB glassss in over the next day or...

    Curses John L Combo52!

I assume John must have been looking at vintage jetliner's and their "huskits" fitted to meet noise regulations to gain further inspiration.    My guess is we'll see something like a 6-chute drain mixer or something equivalent fitted (image linked below)...

GE PDT750 Takes John's (combo52) Peanut Butter Test

I've yet to try this...* It should give me something to do soon once I have run of the house for a short while soon.    I agree with John (reply #11), however, that putting tall, thin items in the corners is pointless because the DW spray is concentrated around the centre of the machine more...

News Flash AW.ORg to buy GE appliances

This is far better news than Whirlpoops, Electrosux or "Higher and Higher Mean Unit Replacements" getting a hold of yet another appliance group.    I wonder if this un-named private equity firm is interested in my prototype "Staples Cereal, A Dietary Staple that Guarantees 99% healthier living...

Load Levels in new Speed Queen TL

I have absolutely no clue what "PureWash" is, and don't want to. It sounds about as good as laundry balls or those "magnetic water softeners" that actually don't do anything that credible science can demonstrate...

    Speed Queen Washers

The original digital machines (incl. TL's in Australia) only had a couple of cycles - i.e. Turn the knob to "Normal" and it washes for X, rinses for X and thats it. No adjustment. These days they build in far more customization ability, and thus I would digital controls these days - as they're...

5 Things You're Not Washing Enough?

Jim A customer at the supermarket once told me this: INDIVIDUALS are smart. People are stupid. Perhaps that explains your last sentence?

    electric and hybrid cars...

The only real issue I see with hybrids is where all the materials are sourced from.    (This is an example - it may not necessarily be true, but demonstrates the point).  Batteries made with metal from Canada Plastics and doodads from Bamboo in China (This is true for the Prius) Computers...

    electric and hybrid cars...

"Warming up" cars is thankfully a thing of the past, even in cold conditions. An engine produces little heat when idling, so all you're doing is filling the oil with the rich fuel mixture being pumped in. Most manufacturers, while not recommending warmup a suggest gentle driving till the...

KitchenAid KDI-21AD not cleaning well - troubleshooting tips?

That hard water staining may well be an indicator that the owners have been pre-rinsing the dishes, causing the detergent to attack the wash-arm support and mesh filter. I dunno whether John (Combo52) will chime in - but this is something I see mentioned regarding the wash-arm supports...

"Industrial Archaeology®" or How to tame wild Speed Queens

Wow John, you really had your work cut out for you with this! However, I can see why "Dentist's Recommend Oral-B," its clearly highly specialized in the area of SpaceAgeDust-Removal :P Another point is this demonstrates the absurdity of "lifetime" fills of oil for automobiles (*cough* BMW...

New acquisition: 1979 Whirlpool 2299 Electronic control (the one Dame Edna advertises!)

Eek! Another of your superb finds, Leon! The machine looks to be in impressive shape, and hopefully is still in possession of its "electronic faculties." (In other words, it hopefully hasn't gone nuts). It will be interesting to see a demonstration of the machine, as John mentioned. My...
