Dude I Got a Fake Dell.. Computer Question

That is promising news; I do hope XP stays around for a while longer, at least until 99% of the bugs and hardware/driver conflicts in Vista are ironed out. A Toshiba Satellite laptop (Office Depot special) we bought this February came with Vista Home Basic, and I was largely unimpressed. Besides...

    MIP (Mint In Package)

My envy has gone up another notch... Yet ANOTHER mint find, I can't believe it! Will definitely make a good shelf ornament. Was the machine still there or had it been replaced with something modern by now?

    Hotpoint leaking

Put some blue RTV silicone (you can find it at any auto parts store) around the origin of the leak, wait 24 hours, and see if that helps. If not, you may have to replace the hose, which isn't that difficult either.

    Cal State Northridge Equipment Lab

Allen, great pictures, thanks for sharing. You mentioned the test kitchens (and the Miele appliances within) in Tucson and I have since wondered how the layout was! Looks like you have a fun class too, BTW.

MAYTAG Washer and Dryer garage laundry home top opener

That's a 12-series machine, made until around 1988 with the introduction of the Orbital transmission...one of the last 63 OPM models. Personally I don't care for the control panel; if the timer has to be on the right, I'd take the panel with the ivory-colored buttons and timer dial.

    Free Shipping??

Rick, I'm curious, why are you selling your Control Tower? Making room for that beautiful '56?

Dude I Got a Fake Dell.. Computer Question

Jason, you mentioned laptops not being very reliable, which prompted me to ask, how is that Sager you bought last year holding up? Is that your main machine, or do you have an additional desktop to supplement it? Or were you simply referring to the 'mainstream-brand' laptops? I couldn't see...

    Vintage Washing Machine

I'd guess $2500 is the reserve price set on this MIB May Oh, I was thinking around $3000-4500. Anything above $400-500 is just RIDICULOUS. First of all, it's an AMP for crying out loud! Yes, they are fun machines, but they're not Kelvinators, Philcos, or even Frigidaires. Nothing particularly...

Never Used? GE Kitchen Center in Kountze, Texas

I don't know about the undercounter models, but my machine (when it was in service before this recent incident) had 3 rinses, and 3 spin/distribution phases. After the gearmotor slowed the tub back down again, the machine would shut off, pause for a few seconds, begin tumbling for a few more...

    A Maytag Lead

A BobLoad® if I ever saw one Especially for a standard-capacity Maytag, that poor dear must have been loaded to the hilt, although equally impressive is the fact that everything came out well. Looks more like a 1-18 load to me...I can see that the Frigidaire Fever is setting in already! ;-)

Dude I Got a Fake Dell.. Computer Question

Packard Bell Strangely enough, I did some Googling and found that Packard Bell is still around, except for one tiny little detail: they no longer cater to the US market. I do know that Packard Bell became a part of NEC sometime in the mid-90's, which I thought was funny because neither company...

    Rosie quits 'The View"

Well, "good riddance" is all I have to say. I don't care for her OR her attitude. It's interesting though how Barbara Walters is saying she had nothing to do with it which is obviously a flat-out lie, but I guess you have to look good for the camera. To paraphrase a previous saying: rosie i...

    LG Nighmare continues

And here's the ad...very wise not to mention "the leak," IMHO. Keep us updated if you get any interest!

    A Maytag Lead

So now can we see a picture of them all shined up and installed in their permanent home? ;-)

    TX Sized Washday

Spindle-thingy=agitator shaft. When re-installing the agitator, you really need to push down HARD in order to re-seat it. Does it "clunk" into place?

    Vintage Washing Machine

I agree. To me, it would be worth $150-200 at the very MOST, and nothing more. It never ceases to amaze me what outrageous prices some sellers ask for their "precious gems" (HARDLY).

Dude I Got a Fake Dell.. Computer Question

My rant on PCs... It seems like none of the modern consumer-grade (or consumer-BRAND for that matter) PCs are of decent quality anymore, not since the early-90's...so far, none of ours that we've had since 1994 have lasted more than 4-5 years. Around the time I was born, my parents bought their...

    H E L P !!!!!!!!

Interesting that you mentioned the smell of smoke in electronics...I'm all too familiar with that. Quite a few of the old 8088-though-80386 computers I dragged home years ago to tinker with belonged to smokers; the smell of stale cigarettes filled the room every time I fired them up. It wasn't...

    Vintage Washing Machine

Wow, quite a few gems seem to be surfacing lately... What a beauty, I LOVE the blue speckled tub! Didn't realize AMPs had these. What year are we talking about here? I do know the first thing it will need when going back into service is a good lubrication of the spin collar...no doubt it's a...
