I'm pretty strapped right now.... ...not a lot of extra cash, but I think that even I can manage $12 a year. That's more than fair! :)

    Admiralpool Update...

Hope it isn't too late to answer.... ...been out of town on a much-needed vacation. Lint isn't too much of a problem with my machine (I sort carefully)...no worse than other machines.....except for my old Filter Flo....that machine had the least amount of linting of anything I've used.

How Much S.T.T.P. to add for each box..

Grey Water... ...also, if you're ever interested in recycling grey water for irrigating non-food plants, STPP is great. I used to use natural soap and STPP in my wringer washer. When I was done with my week's laundry, I would connect the drain hose to a garden hose, turn on the pump, and water...

About Those Piles Behind Lowes and HD

Sad thing is.... ...in today's sue-happy environment, I can see why they don't allow access. To be fair, if I do swap out an appliance, I offer it here first....then, if it's small enough for me to handle, I'll try Free cycle.

Introducing the 1969 Frigidaire Custom Deluxe and the Big Door GE Dryer!

VERY Nice... ...that is an avocado twin to the machine that started it for me. Ours was in coppertone. :)

Which model gets clothes the cleanest?

Another Norge Person Here.... ....the clunking and banging Norges, Magic Chefs, Admirals, Wards family didn't seem to last very long, but they did clean VERY well. I agree with Robert about the GM Frigidaires; quite good washing, but not the cleanest. Our old Rollermatic was outdone by the...

Which model gets clothes the cleanest?

Despite the dumbed down temperatures.... ...my Admiralpool does a really good job cleaning if you don't overload it and feed it a good detergent (Sears Ultra Plus in my case). I did three loads last night, one on dumbed down Hot, one on dumbed down Warm, and one on Cool. Everything came out...

    DROPPS

For What They Cost.... ....I wouldn't use them with my home washer and dryer, but I'm glad to know they're available for traveling.

What is the WORSE washer you have ever owned

Never LG again! As I written before. I remember that thread....it came to mind and I heeded it when I bought my new washer. Thank you for sharing and sorry you had so much misery.

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent aka another wingnut

Knowing how to clean things correctly really helps them last Exactly....the few cents you pay for the proper chemicals that let you do the job right are the smallest fraction of the depreciaton and wear that you get by trying to save those cents.

What Temperature Is Your Hot Water Heater Set ?

Mine is set to about 145F-150F. I like hot water for all the cycles in my dishwasher, not just the main wash.

What is the WORSE washer you have ever owned

By far.... ....the top loading Frigidaire washer in my Kenmore Laundry Center. It was reliable enough, but it had the straight vane agitator with the indexing tub....fun to watch but not terribly effective. The 2.7 cu ft tub with that combination didn't hold much if you wanted clean clothes...

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent aka another wingnut

Being one of those people on a fairly limited income... ....being recently single again and with health care costs, I can understand where people want to save. I just don't see these home brews as cutting it. I've tried a few different recipes for different laundry and dishwasher concoctions...

    Cascade has gone phosphate free!

No white haze here; we have super soft water, but I'm finding myself pre-rinsing again to make sure a load comes out clean. I guess I'll just need to start adding a teaspoon of STPP to the dishwasher as well.

    Admiralpool Update...

Noise Level.... Now that you mention it Gordon, yes, it is noisier than my previous Whirlpool DD. I attributed that to being a BOL machine rather than a higher end one, but yes, it is quite a bit noisier in agitation. The old one was a bear as far as neutral drain problems too....a problem...

    New Downy

Speaking of Store Brands I just remembered....the LA's Totally Awesome available at Dollar Tree is also very light on scent and nice. 21 loads for a buck isn't a bad deal in this economy.

BOL fans in SF area: Galaxy W/D set

I would almost guarantee... "in 2002 I worked in the lawn and garden area across from appliance central. Washer and dryers stared at me all day long. I over heard a conversation about a woman who bought this same exact set. I think she had 2 or 3 kids and a husband. She came back two weeks...
