Excellent, excellent machines! I washed and dried two colored loads--one with mixed fabrics and one with jeans and towels--in my new AWN412 top-load washer and ADE3LR electric dryer delivered last evening. Wow! They are fast, quiet, no-nonsense machines (think vintage Maytags)! No stupid lid...

New Speed Queens Well, I finally gave in to all the conversation on here lately about Speed Queen washers and dryers. Today I did the unthinkable and drove on down to Bathrick's Appliances here in Hastings and ordered my Speed Queen top-load washer and electric dryer. They are set to be...

    Frigidaire electric stove

Fire hazard I purchased my Kenmore coil burner stove the last day of 2006 and had it delivered in early January 2007. It worked fine until just after Thanksgiving of 2009 when the oven element burned out. A replacement element was ordered from Sears. It arrived damaged, so I had to wait...

    Frigidaire electric stove

Thinner burner elements Yes, this does have the thinner burner elements. They have the diagonal plug-ins.

    Frigidaire electric stove

I bought a semi-vintage Frigidaire Electri-Clean stove to replace the piece-of-crap Kenmore that just about burned my house down. The nameplate lacks "GM," so I suspect it dates to post-1979 when White Consolidated Industries took over. So far, it has been a great performer. Can anyone tell...

    My new Weber grill

Weber Genesis Are they still made in the United States? It would be nice to find an American-made grill when my 2004 Kenmore disintegrates. Rob

Minty Maytag DC set in Minneapolis

Watch this guy! He posts pictures that make the appliances look far nicer than they are! I've been burned by this guy. I suspect he swaps machines with ones in worse condition than the ones on display and delivers pieces of garbage after he takes your money. Rob

Yard sale blender... But who made it?

Hamilton Beach I agree that this was made by Hamilton Beach when it was still a division of Scovill Manufacturing. Scovill owned the division until 1986 when it was purchased by Glen Dimplex.

Consumer Reports rates all purpose cleaners

Windex What happened to good, old fashioned blue Windex? There isn't much you can't clean with this except wood or varnished surfaces. However, Launderess makes a good point--Windex contains ammonia, which disinfects and cuts grease and grime.

Out with the NEW in with the OLD! FRIGIDAIRE!

Beautiful stove! Hans, I, too, share your sentiment about acquiring things owned by someone who's passed on that you dearly loved. I have a lot of my grandma's kitchen wares. They bring a smile to my face everytime I use them because they bring back so many good memories of her and her great...

Pros: Can you tell me about these Kenmores, plz?

That's too bad that happened that way, Charlie. These probably would have lasted another twenty years--simple and made back in the days when Sears had everything overbuilt.

Haier is Bidding for Fisher and Paykel

Lovely! More Chinese control! More Chinese crap! I absolutely detest that country and everything it stands for!

What new, non-HE topload washers are still out there??

Non-HE style top load washer Hey Kevin! I just bought the new Whirlpool that Pierre pictured above. I'm very satisfied with it so far. It's quiet, does an excellent job of washing, and fills a good inch higher than the direct-drives. The 800 rpm spin speed does improve water extraction. My...

The Little BOL Kenmore that followed me home.

Beautiful! Nick, Where around here did you find this? I am looking for an older Whirlpool or Kenmore washer and electric dryer but keep coming up empty-handed. Almost everything on the Minneapolis craigslist is newer garbage. By the way, have you refurbished the avocado Kenmore set I gave...

    What is your favorite washer?

Nick, Love the 1986 Kenmore LTDs! I'm still waiting patiently for Gordon to let me know what black-panel Kenmore sets he has available. Rob

    A couple Maytag videos

Love it! Great videos, Kevin! I have room for only two washers and hope to add a Maytag very soon. Rob

    Range Replacement, Modern or Retro?

Be careful! I junked a three-year-old Kenmore (Frigidaire) coil burner stove after the bake element welded itself to the oven floor and melted through the porcelain finish. Thankfully, the thing didn't burn the house down! Sears refused to do anything about it since it was outside the...

    1977-78 Kenmore set

I did the cleaning! When I acquired these, they were clean on the outside, but the insides were quite dirty after 33 years of use. I spent the most time cleaning the washer. I also give it new inlet valve hose clamps and new tub ring clamps since the originals were beginning to disintegrate...

    Last call for vintage Kenmores

Sorry guys! There were no takers so these are headed for the scrap heap this weekend.
