I do remember this story and that a Laundromat was in involved. I did not know it was a "Speed Queen" Franchise. I feel so sorry for the Children that were actors during this period of time. They had no laws to protect them. Truly sad stories for almost all of them.

Such a beautiful freezer!    Wonder how many times the housewife put a couple of chickens or steaks into the "defrost chamber" during cocktail hour only to forget and find three weeks later?  Blah!!!

John,   Great pictures you posted.   About the flue that you mentioned in the first pictures I posted, was this just for the combustion gases of the ovens?  I guess when you had this baby running on all cylinders, it really put out the fumes.    

I have not seen one of these in ages.  Actually forgot about them.  This one is in very good shape.  I was teen when I came across the few. They were already old and were in much, much worse shape than this one.  Seems like they were always in someones garage.  Dent's and such. 

LOL!  I thought you were getting cooler weather than I was on my side of Atlanta!   Thank God that our nights are getting a little cooler.   I am so ready for fall.  I guess I need to buy some cinnamon brooms to make it happen quicker!

Never heard of one.  Is the last door at the bottom for storage?  As in not refrigerated?

Very comfortable house.  The owners took really good care of their furniture and carpet.   Are you guys not relocating as planned?  I remember Georgia being on a possible list.  I may have missed a post at some point.

Just checked the Kmart website.  Free Shipping on total of $35!  Not bad at all. They also do online "Layaway". 

Kmart had items that no other retailer would carry in the Atlanta area.  For years, Kmart was the only place I could find Dynamo detergent.  Sadly, we no longer have Kmart stores in the Greater Atlanta area.  The closest store to me is in Peachtree City and Covington, Ga.    I have shopped on...

What do dry-cleaners use now?    I have seen many of the older laundromats that had the Speed Queen Dry Clean machines.  They usually had two together.  I have NEVER seen one in operation.  Even when I was a kid.  I never understood why they did not pull the machines out.  I would have liked...
