One of my fellow Mid Century Modern compadres forwarded me this home sale link today. FABULOUS 1966 home. BIG. Mostly untouched inside and out. I have a feeling the current occupant probably collects MCM furnishings--there's really not much new stuff in there. Yeah…that IS lavender carpet in there with the blue velvet sofas. Oy.

Though I like the bones of the place and the architecture overall, most of what's in there is on the scary side (I'd probably keep the the wrought iron grillwork and Chrome fireplace, chrome tables and chairs and mod chandelier…but not much else). Those wall murals are probably original to the build--kitchen is pretty much untouched save for the 90s KA Architect DW and the 80s fridge. At least they kept the GE wall ovens!
Oh…the wallpaper on the ceiling….that probably happened with the 80s as well :p Anyway, there are 58 pics. Not a horrendous price considering the uniqueness, square footage and low taxes for this state…

Very comfortable house.  The owners took really good care of their furniture and carpet.

Are you guys not relocating as planned?  I remember Georgia being on a possible list.  I may have missed a post at some point.

Yes Gary,

but you couldn't touch it for that price in most of southern California. Phoenix has one muddy river, except during monsoon season. The east side also gets the dust storms. Mesa is just east of Tempe.

Looked at the pictures-but this move up is out of my budget-and too far from my job!But interesting nonetheless. The kitchen is OK-normally I don't like white kitchens-look too much like a lab or morgue. This one is nice-the wallpaper on the ceiling helps it out.But overall the place needs more COLOR-you get tired of WHITE throughout the whole place. No pool-too much work and a liability-insurance rates higher.Did like that HUGE covered porch. In that area you could eat and sit outside without getting eaten alive by bugs as where I am now.

I wouldn't really want it, but it would be a fun project house. Yeah, the interior is flat in color and euwwwwww in furniture taste. I'd have removed most of the furniture and show it with some contrasts...rent some furniture for staging. Anyways, there's a lot of house for the money. I had a friend who lived in Gilbert in the 80's. I still remember the acres of farms and orange trees. Where this home sits, the farms are probably long gone(?).

Same question, are you thinking of still moving to this state of Georgia?

That is one of the most insane houses I've seen in a long time. All that rough white brick was totally cutting edge at the time. But I'm amazed at all the chrome most of all.
