Frigidaire Stove and Fridge - Ohio

It is a 1954 TOO COOL! We have the same 30" range in our basement, in the same color! I is a prettier shade in person, sort of a jade almost. Had never seen another. Still have the booklet filed away, so know it is a '54, unless both years were identical. The one for sale is not quite TOL, as...

    POD Westinghouse

Jerry, GAWJUS washer! Lighted drum? Or did you temp. put one in to showcase the tub? Too cool that you also have a 50's GE range; learned to cook on a turquoise one in Phoenix as a young teen. Good luck with the restoration! Duane

    POD Westinghouse

Thanks, Tom! Figured expense was at least part of it.

    POD Westinghouse

Curious, anyone know WHY Westie moved away from the "Program Computer" back to this simpler dial design? Were the buttons and radio style dial too costly and prone to failure? Did it make the Westies too costly compared to the competition? Seems like a step backward in some ways. Thanks! Duane

    Vintage Jacobs Launderall

What are these folks thinking trying to get that kind of price for something in that rough of shape? Just because it is old, doesn't mean it will bring gold!

Didn't know... I thought pushbutton cooktops were the dominion of GE and Hotpoint... Good to know! I always learn something new here... Duane

HOLY GRAIL - 1965? TURQUOISE AQUA FRIGIDAIRE WASHER & DRYER - FLORIDA

Thanks, Pat and Phil(?) for answering my questions. Phil, looks like you have QUITE a Frig. collection; including those space age 1957's! We still have the green 1954 30" Frig. range in our basement, prob orig. to our house. When they remodeled the kitchen, the previous owners put it down...

    Today's POD WW Front Loader

In the mid-90's, I rented a house on Beaver Island, MI that had WW front loader and matching dryer. They were obv. meant to be stacked, as they had no tops and the controls were on the front. A piece of plywood was across the top of both of them side-by-side. It was the home of an old heiress...

Secrets of Keeping your Automatic Washer Trouble Free

Isn't the reason Maytags lasted forever is that that they barely moved the load? Little movement = little wear = little maintenance = longer life? To be fair, I've only seen a few Maytags in action and they were 30+ years old. Nowhere NEAR the turnover in our 15 + year old WP built heavy duty...

HOLY GRAIL - 1965? TURQUOISE AQUA FRIGIDAIRE WASHER & DRYER - FLORIDA

Question: POD 2/08/13 and these Frigidaires... Curious; noticed the smaller knob under the large dial on both these machines and today's POD. Was the larger dial simply an indicator and the smaller one was actually the one to be turned to set the time, cycle, etc? And what was the small silver...

The 1959 Westinghouse L-1000 and D-1000 Come to Maryland

John, Simply GAWJUS!! Really love the Westie Laundromats, esp. the late 50's early 60's. Very cool that you found them and retrieved them. Such a modern look; back when DESIGNERS actually had some input. Great that some pics were posted of other year's models, too. Amazing that they would...

    POD 10/9

Curious, did these clean very well? Doesn't look like they would, but much like the ol' Maytags, prob lasted forever since there was little movement, so little wear.

    Fun Vintage Fabric

Very fun!! When we got a sectional for our 50's brick house a few yrs back, we were able to find a nice nubby, moss green fabric that matched the slate on the hearth and in the entry. The texture is similar to many of those fabrics used for furniture back then. Looks like it was made for the...
