Review: Detergent aisles of American supermarkets

Albertson's The prices in Albertson's are...shall we say...quite shocking. So I don't think a lot of folks shop there, unless they have no other alternative. South Denver is VERY different now, with Highlands Ranch being so big! And it is very, very, very wealthy.

    Miele Super Capacity Laundry Review

the thing that made Miele a 'no no' for me. I wanted to buy a Miele, I really did. But for me, the "no no" was the loss of temperatures up to 95C. I (somewhat reluctantly) went with an Asko which was a semi known quantity. I thought, and think, that profile washes do a better job. My...

of course pods will change it... ...because you're paying many times the price per dose that you are with a bottle or a box :)

Review: Detergent aisles of American supermarkets

here in Denver... Here in Denver, we have King Soopers (which is Kroger), Safeway, Super Target, Super Walmart, Albertsons, and no doubt other smaller ones. My observation is as follows: 1. The Super Walmarts here are clean and usually well stocked. I tend to shop there for canned and...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Three

It may also be fashion at the time Could be all these things but it may just be the fashion at the time. I'd go with the 'this looks like Grandma's coffee pot so it's supposed to evoke 'homey' feelings.'

Review: Detergent aisles of American supermarkets

Where in the USA were you (are you?)? Here are my observations: 1. Selection in large supermarkets in the east are far better than in the intermountain west. (The intermountain west are the Rocky Mountain states of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, parts of Arizona. The front...

    Old electric range versus new?

I didn't realize I didn't realize that self clean went back that far. Wow...that's good to know. And from this forum I've also read that the P7s were most accurate ovens made ! So that's what I should look for :)

    Old electric range versus new?

This helps... Gotcha, thanks everyone (and thanks in advance to anyone who wants to add stuff). I have a later vintage Miele oven as well, which is very sophisticated. I'm just getting wary of electronic controls in general, because the quality just isn't what it once was - too many things...

    Old electric range versus new?

Folks, Given the often discussed disgust with the poor quality of new appliances, I have a question: DO you all think it better to buy a NEW electric range or an OLD electric range? When I say 'new' I mean something since 2005 onward, or 'old' as being something from (say) the 1960s or...

Suzy Homemaker For The 21st Century: Haier Mini Washer

A very good point. I'm sure they are put in 'cause they are washer/dryer combo units. And they are in large, higher end units, mostly for folks who live in their rigs for months on end. Personally I'd rather use the commercial laundry, but not everyone feels that way.

    Hoover Key -Matic

They are the coolest! As someone said above, I am thinking of the incredible lifting of drudgery from the boiler, sink, and wringer. Can you imagine how much WORK laundry must have been as you got older? It would take AT LEAST a full day per week to wash, rinse, wring, and dry the clothes...

Suzy Homemaker For The 21st Century: Haier Mini Washer

It'll be a boon for RVs It'll be a boom for RVers who don't have the room for a Splendide. What is the size of the unit anyway? I couldn't find any on their website.

    Kitchen Aid Crap

It's insane. I keep wondering if the best thing for me is to find a 1950s electric range and buy that. Whoever heard of a range dying after only 10 years? But nothing, nothing is built to last. If they were $100 you wouldn't care so much, but $2000? It seems like most of us here don't have...

    He man air conditioner

sex sells. If you think about basic drives for humans, you come up with sex and food. Food ensures survival of the individual, and sex survival of your genes. So they are both powerful images to use in advertising. It does seem a little silly.

Man starts fire drying his laundry in the microwave

LOL My boss was just walking by and asked what was so funny, Joe...I showed him your response and it got his seal of approval. PRICELESS.

    Servisystem Amonia Based Home Refrigerator

Exactly! Since I often camp with my small camper in areas without electricity, the fact that the frig can run on gas is why they are there. Some of the "high end" fifth wheels that are quite obviously used only for "snowbird" residences have only 120V AC refrigerators in them. And the...

    New Dishwasher Recommendation Please

Many Bosch are made in North Carolina I have read of folks bashing Bosch dishwashers that are made in North Carolina, as many are. As I understand it, only the high end Bosch are now made in Germany (and with the decline in US wages, maybe all are US made by now?) I have a MOL Bosch...

    GE Takes On DOE/Energy Star

is it clean or does it look clean? "No sudsing detergent." Does anyone care if things are clean or if they just LOOK clean? Strong perfumes are put into detergents so things "smell clean." But obviously if they are perfumed it means they are perfumed, but not necessary clean. I agree with...

    Kitchen Aid Crap

This is awful! God this is terrible, I'm so sorry you're dealing with it. (I have a kitchenaid range, and while it is okay and does what I want,I don't pretend it is the kitchenaid of old days)
