Twice Baked Potatos A cardiology nightmare!!!

yeah it is not 'what' but 'how often' @lordkenmore: You said it. I'll start this rant by saying I can easily stand to lose 20 pounds and I'm working on it sort of. Having said that, I don't see the point of always eating cardboard food. If you eat small amounts of rich foods, you get...

    *New* Crosley Wringer Washer

Nostalgia is good up to a point. I enjoy vintage stuff. I am contemplating putting a 1950s stove in my kitchen, for example. But...but...but.... The lifestyle of the 1950s worked because someone worked at home, all day, every day. While my wife is at home every day, her disability makes...

Twice Baked Potatos A cardiology nightmare!!!

Actually it isn't too bad. If you consider 1/2 of a potato as a serving size this is what I get for approximate calories: 50 calories for the sour creaam 100 calories for the butter 100 calories in the cream cheese 80 calories in the potato. Let's see 20 calories for the extra milk? So we're...

My Bosch dishwasher Bob- Loaded to the max

Whirlpool, fire (almost) Here's what happened. Bought the DW in December, 2006. In 2008, it quit. Had a repairman out. There was a burned component on the circuit board. He replaced it. Used until late 2010. This time, the dishwasher DIDN'T quit but started sputter-sounding (like it was...

GRR on the 4 pound sugar bags. They moved it to 4 pounds when the price went up and as I thought, now the cost of a 4 pound bag is as much as a 5 pound bag. One thing that is interesting, and this may be a western thing: Store brand sugar, which is mostly beet sugar, is still in 5 pound bags...

From Yahoo.com - How Often Do You Change Your Bed Linen?

Yup I hear you. Frankly, though, I feel like I am healthier when I wear clean clothes - so I'll continue to wash clothes at appropriate temperatures, and save money on medical bills I don't have :). Even washing at 90C with my asko is still consumes < 2KW of electricity, and proportionally...

C+H sugar... ...was lowered to 4 pounds, though interestingly enough I did recently pick some up at Target in a 5 pound bags. C+H is owned by Domino.

From Yahoo.com - How Often Do You Change Your Bed Linen?

unless your machine has an internal heater ... ...you'll never wash that hot. My duet (GRRR) would only ENGAGE the heater if you put the 'heavy soil'on. And even then it wasn't great. Now the asko....sheets at 190F. Heaven :)

My Bosch dishwasher Bob- Loaded to the max

I will, but I don't have my whirlpool anymore, do you ha Of course, I use corelle dishes and they are thin. If I had fiesta ware I might not like my Bosch. As for being a little smaller side to side, that makes sense to me, as it IS a euro size machine. This doesn't bother me. What I DON'T...

ELEMENT televisons made in Canton Michigan

saw this online last night. I thought it was wonderful! In 1998 I started saying 'Buy US manufactured products!' Finally, it is mainstream. It's only weird folks like those of us who like stuff like we discuss here that say that, or it was only us.

My Bosch dishwasher Bob- Loaded to the max

How can it? Since a Bosch is less than 1 inch narrower than a full size US dishwasher, how can it hold 30% less than a full size US dishwasher? I have to admit, I don't understand some of their choices on racks, but I don't find I fit appreciably less in my Bosch than I did in my Whirlpool. I...

    Cake Takers & Storage

I find Tupperware... ...extremely expensive BUT: 1. They often run good sales. 2. The stuff really is the best plastic containers. However, now that they aren't manufacturing in the USA I'm going to investigate the snapware stuff that my fellow Corningware fan has mentioned above. I have...

    Ordered Persil

I'd love to buy these things..but...to me... ...they stink. No offense meant. I haven't been to Germany but I have to say, going through a UK supermarket (a big Safeway, Sainsbury, or Morrisons) I cannot go anywhere near the washing powder aisle. I wish they'd make an UNscented Persil, and...

    This IS the correct item?

That's it!! I've had to back off from 1/2 teaspoon in most loads to 1/4 teaspoon in some loads, though because it was causing some filming (which was weird). However, it's great stuff!!

The Story of Aunt Jenny and Spry Shortening

I thought the last bit was amusing... ...discussing a society 'timid of using spice' or some such. Funny thing I find is that in some ways old cookbooks used MORE spice, especially for baking -- cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, whereas now all we do is eat chocolate. (I don't like the stuff...

Keeping donated food warm at Relay For Life

why not make a hay box? Not literally of course, but they were used in UK for cooking without fuel. THe idea was bring a stew or beans or whatever to boil and cook for a bit, cover it tightly and put it in a box of hay. The hay insulated and kept it cooking. Since it is only an hour, could...
