Christmas in July thanks to "Santa Veg"!

Santa knew! It was so funny to because I had just said to Dennis the other night that I wish I had a Hot Dogger! The one Santa Veg sent me had the instructions still inside. Here it is loaded and ready to cook some bright red Hawaiian Wieners

Christmas in July thanks to "Santa Veg"!

I Dream of Jeannie! Just to make sure I did not feel left out of the "Which vintage coffeemaker should I use today?" club, Veg included this fantastic clear lucite goodie from Oster. I thought I would like the Sunbeam the best, but this Oster model really grows on you! Either way I love...

Christmas in July thanks to "Santa Veg"!

I recently whined out loud here about my lack of vintage small appliances. My dear friend Veg-O-Matic heard my plea and took pity on me for having to drink coffee out of a soulless white plastic coffeemaker made by Chinese slave labor. In the short time we had the elcheapo Proctor-Silax drip...

How To Do You Do Laundry And Lift Weights At The Same Time?

You GO Girl! You are an inspiration to me. I am glad to see the true art of homemaking is being continued. Do any young people know these things any more? Me? I used to press EVERYTHING in a Spartan Press-O-Matic. Vowed my standards would not change when we moved first into an Airstream Travel...

    Old AC Repair or Chuck?

Need to be reset? I have two cheep chinee-built ACs with the electronic type control. Our power goes on and off like fireflies (Thank You Peg Bracken) and I have never had to "reset" my units, nor the electronically controlled unit we have down at work. What line of crap are they trying to feed...

    The Queens Get a Throne

I LOVE THOSE GREEN QUEENS!!! Greg- I have to let you know that those 'Queens are now my desktop picture. I will use this image to help my brain concentrate on metaphysically teletransporting these to a locations quite a bit further west. And south. (Am SO tired of the Hettie. Familiarity breeds...

A note of appreciation & gratitude--Everyone Please applaud

Loud applause from the middle of the Pacific! Thank You Robert for the work you do to maintain this site. You have always been so kind-you even let me come to your house to see your washers <br The best thing about AW.org is the friends that I have made here. On top of all that I finally got...

    ELECTROLUX DISHWASHER WITH WINDOW

While I would love to watch the action of the dishwasher, I would not want to look at the nasty, smeary, gooey mess of the dirty dishes all running down that window, since we run the dishwasher only when there is a full load. One of those hi-tech windows that would stay opaque until you run the...

Madame Pele is restless! Earthquakes on Hawaii.

For those of you who enjoy geological events, here is one to keep your eye on. Seems like the Big Island of Hawaii has been rockin' and rollin' for the past day. I have been watching my own homemade seismometer (two "likker" bottles on top my 'fridge) but there has been no action here on Maui...

    DADoES in hospital

Get well soon! I have never had any sort of earache, but remember when Dennis had one that hurt so bad he was crying (went straightaway to the emergency room that time!) Horrible and nasty! Hope you are getting the fine care you deserve Glenn!

    The Maytag Center Dial Dishwasher

Here's one! When these machines first came out, Peterson's Maytag let my mom have one on a "try-out" basis. Our Hotpoint with the cool pink flying saucer sprayer got parked in the hall and we used the Maytag toploader. Mom did not like the topload design and she complained that the Maytag...

CONVENTIONAL WASHING: A STUDY IN TEXT AND PHOTOS

I am hyperventilating right now! (about the washers, silly!) Thank You!

    Some new additions!

Love the vintage appliances! Your "new" stove and fridge are just too beautiful! That kitchen center from Nutone is a way cool idea however, Martha had one when we all lived in St. Paul. The blender attachment was cool, the mixer was OK. I recall that there was some difficultly in removing the...

Wooden tub Maytag at Minnesota auction.

We received our copy of Dennis' hometown newspaper yesterday. Usually it takes so long to get here all the news is stale by the time we get it. This time we received our copy in time for me to alert others of an auction featuring a wooden tub Maytag washer. I know our focus here is automatic...

    2007 Summertime Picture Thread

Greetings from Paradise Here is my partner Dennis and I sitting out on our lanai. It is really a hot day here today; the hottest it has been for a long time. By the time I got the camera set up on the tripod and shot the picture I was sweating like a pig. We are not used to roasting like this...

    Prayers, Chants and Incantations needed!

Frigilux-ANYONE can have a pank KM dryer with a little help from Krylon! Again, I would have gotten this done much quicker if I had the right tools. I was missing the right size torx bit so had to get creative. Also did not have the right tool for replacing the tub clamps so had to use brawn...

Gas prices still under $3 in Mid-MO

I'm glad we no longer own a car! Gas just shot up another dime this week to 3.65 here. Dennis and I squeal with glee as we ride past on the FREE Maui Bus-and were losing weight too from all the walking we are now doing. Fatter wallet-thinner waistline! Being car free is awesome!

    Prayers, Chants and Incantations needed!

SUCCESS! I DID IT! Much swearing and cussing-Dennis will just buy me a new washer next time rather than endure another afternoon like this one. Took 5 hours to get the whole thing back together and am left with two screws still. Ran a test run and it WORKED! Am washing my whites right now...
