A test of the 'new' Speed Queen automatic

Paul, you will love that Speed Queen! It has the older unique bowl shaped tub which is cool. SQ made so many interesting control panels throughout the years.

A test of the 'new' Speed Queen automatic

That toggle switch just cuts power to the agitate solenoid for a period during the wash. So yes, you're getting 4 minutes agitation plus a soak period in the middle with only the pump running.

Congrats Leon, that is a model I love and saw Dame Edna's advert years ago! It looks in great shape too.

    EDDY1210's A-78 Speed Queen washer!

The A-78 Thanks Dewey for the nice comments about this washer! It's one of my favorites too. Here is a picture of where it sits today in the line-up. I've now put a retro aluminum agitator in. I think this would have been made around 1969 or 70. Eddy

    The ones that got away

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a long time but I thought I'd share this "almost" catch. I haven't found anything interesting in a very long time, and with work and personal stuff I really haven't been actively searching much. However, James' (114jwh) eagle eye spotted this set just after they...

Phil, I am so excited for you. These are fantastic machines, in fact it's the washer I grew up with at home. Our dryer was a Maytag HOH. Congrats!

Work begins on the1957 Speed Queen TOL

Jon I appreciate all the hard work that went into this wonderful restoration! I think I was spoiled as my 57 only needed a new pump. Finally you have a SQ in your collection and now your clothes can experience being "Speed Queen clean" LOL

Work begins on the1957 Speed Queen TOL

Photo to share - wringer washers

I'll join in the wringer washer party too. This is my Viking which I use on a fairly regular basis.

    Speed Queen ranges?

That makes sense, because Whirlpool/Inglis Canada bought the SQ name after the McGraw Edison plant closed. I've seen a number of Inglis washers with the SQ name on them. The dishwashers however were D&M which perplexed me.

    non automatic washing machine

I love this machine too! Totally hands on, control all aspects of the wash. I think it appeals to those of us with a soft spot for wringer washers.
