Sometimes 6" is just not enough... Check out the rinse level.  Preset, regardless of the wash level.  The washer beat the hell out of those towels.  And there is no 2-speed as the control panel indicates, unless you consider the spin.  Imagine the lack of contact with the rinse water on a full...

Reading the lid... Graphic on the left illustrates the new energy-saving water level for the wash.  Graphic on the right discusses the energy-saving level for the rinse.  It even recommends you dilute the fabric softener in a quart of water...

From one POS to another... By this time, we had a few dirty towels...I believe 4 bath and 1 beach towel.  Regular cycle, "high" water level.  You can see that the tub only fills to about 2/3 capacity:

FWIW... My Amana has a spin drain... And midway through the spin, there's about a 20-second spray rinse... Mine is one that fills the tub to the very top on the largest load setting, and has a 2nd rinse option... I've never had the need for the extra rinse, and tend to prefer the HE...

Zero problems so far... I bought the model just below this one, w/o the speed control, about a year ago, on Craigslist for $50... The tub and agitator look, sound, and wash just like the Speed Queens you see on YouTube... Huge capacity, and vigorous turnover... And a very smooth...
