Frigidaire “Compact 30” slide-in range mystery

Here’s some pics. Anyone know how to get that clock compartment open

Frigidaire “Compact 30” slide-in range mystery

I’ve done it a few times, but I’m never sure what I’m doing (OTOH, I haven’t killed anyone or burnt anything down yet ;-) ) I’d like to get this oven working by Thanksgiving (but I have a Nesco roaster waiting in the wings like an ambitious understudy)

Frigidaire “Compact 30” slide-in range mystery

My first thought was the manual switch as well, and that’s part of my suspicion: it seems like maybe it has been forced in, and maybe broken the mechanism. Even when I set it up for time bake and set the non-functioning clock to that time, it doesn’t come on (even though I can hear a click when...

Frigidaire “Compact 30” slide-in range mystery

Hi there, I recently came across a Frigidaire “Compact 30” slide-in range, model RG-533. The cooktop works fine, but the oven/broiler is dead, as is the clock. Is suspect the clock is the culprit or, rather the times mechanism for the oven), but I don’t want to deal with having it repaired...

    GE American Range oven handles

Here’s a bigger shot of the stove. I’m still kicking myself for not taking the door off, but that’s life. The stove and freezer have a sort of lemon-lime thing going on.

    GE American Range oven handles

Thanks, John. Let me know if you want to part with them. It's in really good shape, all things considered, and everything seems to work - including the clock. I haven't tried the oven cleaner feature, because the oven isn't dirty.

    GE American Range oven handles

Thanks, John. Here's the upper level oven handle. Part of it just must have dissolved. The lower oven handle is more tricky, as I have the door apart now. One of the screws broke off while moving. I tried drilling out the broken-off screw, but aren't having much luck. I'll take a look at the...

    GE American Range oven handles

Hello Everybody! I finally got around to installing the GE Americana Range, complete with Upstairs Oven with Picture Window, and sensi-temp burner, but a moving tragedy broke the downstairs oven handle. Not only that, but the Upstairs oven's handle came pre-broken. Anybody have some Americana...

    Anybody want a wall fridge?

Bump :-) I'd really like to see this go to a loving home. Don't worry, I won't scrap it, but it's not meeting its full potential with us.

    Anybody want a wall fridge?

I'm thinking of giving up the GE Wall fridge. It needs more TLC than I am willing to give it, and I know there are people out there who could love it. Problems: It cools, but not very much (May just need some refrigerant). The freezer frosts over almost immediately, the light socket keeps...

GE LW style wall refrigerator in Iowa

Amazing..... Someone in Council Bluffs had enough money in the 50's to buy a GE Wall fridge? ;-) Good luck on that $2500.

    IOWA just

I'm just thrilled! So proud of my home state! But, of course, Representative Steve King (R-Western Iowa) is already agitating for an amendment to the state constitution. (see link) Even by Western Iowa standards (which are pretty low) King is a neanderthal. Why they keep electing him is...

    Compact Fluorescent Failures

We have CFL's in almost every fixture in the house, and they seem to generally work fine and have a long life. There is one fixture, however, that burns them out at an alarming rate. I suspect there may be something wrong with the fixture, but I haven't gotten around to switching it out.

Such a Happy Little Can Opener!!!....

There I was, skulking around the St. Vincent de Paul on my lunch break, and there it was - this little gem of a can opener! Ninety-nine cents later, we were on our way home. It's a GE, but I don't think I've ever seen this model before - and I've seen plenty of can openers.

Vintage GE Electric/Range Charcoal Grill - Turquoise

I absolutely love those! Way too far for my budget, however. I'm surprised that they never show up out here, because of the huge preponderance of electric stoves.

    Lay-Away?

I love K-Mart! I don't think K-mart ever gave up on layaway. I remember buying a TV on layaway from (I think) K-Mart back in the 80's. Couldn't get credit to save my life, so it was that or nothing. Right now, I'm buying a really fun lamp on layaway from a local antique store.

    updates on the "summer home"

Razor Blades We found the same thing when we replaced our medicine cabinet. Sort of like a primitive sharps container. And WHY would you want to get rid of that electrical service panel? ;-) Actually, it's not as crispy as some I've seen, but those old installations freak me out. (See pic) Am...
