A Different Stink in the Fridge - Help??

Might be worth trying Ammonia is a good degreaser and deodorizer, and it is cheap. Once used, it evaporates and leaves no residue (ammonia is a gas). Maybe a bowl of ammonia inside the fridge would cause the vapour to pass through the ventilation system and helps solving the issue. Maybe...

    What happened to toilet paper?

Please @dj_gabriele, do not mention the bidet, OK? How I miss a bidet!

    Powdered detergents clogging septic lines?

"Clay" in laundry detergents A few years ago, if I remember correctly, in Italy a detergent (I cannot remember whether it was liquid or powder) was advertised as "2 in 1 with fabric conditioner" and the advertising stated that it contained "sweet clay" ("argilla dolce", don't ask me what on...

    Powdered detergents clogging septic lines?

Liquids? When I was living in Rome, in a furnished flat (well, sounds better than it was) suddenly I discovered that the drain pipes were all lined by a sort of thick layer of a strange thick greyish grime. When I connected my washing machine, which was a water-hog top loader, the pressure and...

    Liquid Oxygen Bleach Stain Removers

No fade, don't worry I have been using "gentle bleach" for years (how I miss it!) and it does not fade colours at all. Moreover, as far as I know, it does not affect enzymes or detergents: I suggest you to try adding at the beginning of the wash when you add detergent. And just in case...

Americans Purchasing European Detergents - Henkel Has Sniffed Us Out

"I will never understand... ... the way some people prefer unscented" Some people (me, for instance) simply find synthetic fragrances disgusting, whether in laundry, personal, or household products

are you sure you are using the 100% of the capacity of your washer?

Yes, I am... sure that I am NOT using the 100% of the capacity of my washer. And honestly speaking I couldn't care less: quite often 100% capacity means poor washing, poor rinsing, and too much tangling

have you ever seen something like this??

Data plate I notice that the data plate of the machine is in German, but it shows the word "motore", which seems Italian for "motor", or am I missing something?

The British Are Coming! No, Wait . . .

I am a bit surprised... I would have not expected that these old Fiat cars were so well known in USA, where they have never been sold, as far as I know (by the way: my mother had a Topolino, the "C" version to be precise: how on earth do you know that old car, sudmaster?). Is it because your...

    Oxygen Bleach Questions

Liquid non-chlorine bleach As far as I can remember liquid non-chlorine bleach works very, very, very well: it releases more oxygen than sodium percarbonate even at low temperature just for the agitation (hydrogen peroxide is not very stable) and it does not lower the PH that much, hence it is...

UK Article: Is your laundry making you ill?

I am missing a lot... Honestly, I cannot understand what seems to me like an Anglo-Saxon obsession with bacteria. Considering that bacteria are everywhere, even if "as many as one million bacteria found in just two tablespoons of wash water" seems like a scaring lot, I am not sure it is a...

They're Here! My AEG Set Has Arrived

"Stain" cycle (or "stain" option?) As far as I know, the idea behind the "stain" option in AEG machines is that the stain additives do not allow the enzymes to do their job properly, hence the additive is added later in the wash phase when the water temperature is about 40°C (about 104F) and...

    Knock, knock!

I am missing... ...the usefulness or advantage of this "double-knock opening". And what if all the cabinets in the kitchen have handles? Am I expected to double-knock to open any drawer or door in the kitchen?

    Just A Quick Thank You

Honestly and cynically A few dollars per year for a reliable, well-maintained, always perfectly working, and ads-free website are a more than fair effort, in my opinion. And I intentionally do not mention the fun and pleasure. But I also like the fact that the website is also open to...

    New GE Dishwasher Line

Swirling extra spray arm Although surely the advertising is at least confusing and misleading (and it is Electrolux speciality to provide confusing and misleading information) the real goal of the swirling spray arm is not exactly cleaning better or faster, but rather beign less "sensitive"...

    Servis W814W washing machine

Energy rating? As far as I know washing machines (and dishwashers) are rated using a cycle specified by the manufacturer. Usually this cycle is well hidden and no one ever uses it :-/ Am I wrong?
