    Time to go?

If the heating element keeps failing or it's cycling on the high-limit thermostat then check your drum seals. Leakage past drum seals is a common cause of problems.

    Norge Burpilator

Norge Granny had what I believe was a late '50's or early '60's Norge. I think it was a post timeline machine. I have only seen one other machine like it and that was at a thrift store around 1970. This Norge had a small box on the right hand side of the deck that held a rotary timer (not a...

Nice Kenmore gas Dryer in Atlanta Area

I have a similar '63 model 600. This is one step above with a modulating burner for the soft heat. This should also be a high input/high speed dryer, which I highly recommend--30 min big towel loads, no kidding. One of the best dryers I have used.

I think GE Filter Flos hate me!

GE parts Lots of vintage GE filter flo parts cheap on ebay if you search for them. I had a similar motor failure and bought the very same motor as you need, a NOS GE replacement motor none the less, for about $35. I sure wouldn't give up.

    Stumped by a pilot light

The bulb is rated for 1/2 amp of current, so it would not be in series with the main heater unless it has a shunt. Look for a series component that draws less current. Is the #43, in fact, the original bulb specified for this machine?

    Stumped by a pilot light

GE 43 pilot lamp This is a 2.5V, 500ma bulb which would NEVER be connected directly across a 110V line; rather, it would need a ballast of some sort or be current operated by being in series with another component (solenoid coil, motor winding, etc.). Neon lamps (with a small resistor in the...

and another Dream Machine arrives via Youcrate:

FYI, a couple of things: The early GE machines (prior to the v-series) do not use the cable suspension system many of you are familiar with, rather; the mechanism is suspended on 3 or 4 spring and snubber assemblies at the bottom which anchors to the base of the machine. Additionally, these...

OK GE Boys, Here's Something New

re: transmisstions NOS transmissions are still available for these machines from some of the parts houses and on ebay. I bought a brand new one for about $40 last year on ebay for another restoration. Incidently, the lower oil seal (the one that usually leaks) on these machines is cheap...
