Hi I'm new to this board as of last month. I have enjoyed the posts and reading some of the then in 2004. I have a WIG Frigidaire (Avacado Green) . I think it is a 1-18. Is that correct? My late dad a former Frigidaire traveling salesman bought it used in the 90's to replace our original washer a 1964. Now my question , mine is working fine. Are parts available? If not there was a post earlier that mentioned a WIG for sale on E bay for 20 dollars in Oklahoma. That auction ends in two days. Would it be a good idea to buy it for spare parts? The other question is the WIG easily repairable by a novice like me with no special tools. I know some of the washers had a rubber bellows that fit in the tub on the agitator. My dad used to replace them on friend's washers and he had a special wrench.

Second point. I have a DCIF-64 no vent dryer. It was a match to the 1984 washer mentioned above that I guess my dad had scraped since there was probably no parts available. I'm still needing parts for the DCIF-64. Any advice. I did buy a DDA-64 dryer on E bay two weeks ago that may help for matching parts. I have a parts book I bought on E bay from gansky. I have contacted Don's Appliances in Illnois, Larry at Modern Parts House in Ohio and he gave me some parts. I have contacted Dave's Repair but he has not answered my specific e mails about the dryer. He has answered questions about repair books he has for sale and whether they would be good for mt WIG.

Yes, finding cast off 1-18's are a good source of spare parts. There are also places who keep spare parts on the shelves. Like the rest of us, you just have to be willing to spend the time, and the long distance charges, to track them down----especially for your '64 Dryer.

Fortunately 1-18's show up all the time, hauled off by appliance stores as new ones are delivered, etc. Make friends with yor local dealers!
