1-18 Frigidaire Washer Timer Help Needed

Hey Guys: I have a 1-18 washer that had a timer problem. I sent the timer to Midwest Timer to be repaired.
They called today and said they don't have the parts to fix it. They are returning it to me. I am wondering if anyone might have a timer that will work on my machine.
It is Model #WIS - Serial # 67 FE 665. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!!

What is wrong with the timer? You may be able to fix it yourself.

I acquired this machine from a friend and he said the timer would advance so far and then the machine would just shut down. I turned to machine on and it agitated for a very short period and so I advanced it to the spin cycle and now it acts like the timer is not sending a signal to the motor. It won't even make the motor hum.

Paging John Lefever

John, I'm assisting Bob with rebuilding this machine.  We need your advice.  I have been able to locate a couple of timers but none match the existing number.  The number on the original timer is <span style="font-size: small;">0635285</span>

 

Also, here is a photo of the timer dial and the control panel, this seems a common 1-18 sequence, the same as my gold crown 1-18.  Can you (or anyone else) advise us?

Faster Spin???

Were there a 1-18 model made that had a faster spin? When my parents bought an avocado laundry pair (washer model WIAS and the matching gas dryer). I thought there was one model having an 880 rpm spin and the standard regular spin speed was 650 rpm. Is it possible it was made and discontinued if it existed at all? I read this info in the sales leaflet comparing the models of the various 1-18 models. It may have been discontinued due to bearing issues. Hope someone can shed some light.

Spin Speed of 1-18s

Unfortunately all 1-18s spin at the same maximum speed of around 650? I don't know the exact Speed. Bearing durability certainly would not have been the reason that the 1-18s did not spin any faster, engineers have had the ability to have things this large to spin at thousands of RPMs for at least 50 years at the time these great washers were designed with total reliability. The 1-18 was an entirely different design washer and since they did not use any type of balance ring it would have been difficult to get for it to spin very fast without balance problems and with the larger diameter tub it would likely have been necessary to have a neutral drain so the clothing would distribute better for spinning.

 

I think that when Frigidaire engineers designed the 1-18 they didn't see much reason to have a super fast spin speed, as most consumers didn't really care and it was always easy to find customers of older Frigidaire washers with the Rapid-Dry feature that were not all that happy with them because of how wrinkled they left clothing.
