remember the rusty leaky 1-18 on ebay? well guess where it lives now? ha ha good old st louis.. guess im just a sucker for almost lost causes. this baby can and will be saved its not to bad and it does run but the cone is cracked and i have to find another one so if anyone has one or has a lead please let me know will be happy to buy one...also what is the trick to getting the old cone off?

which direction ?

those ags can be a B^&*CH to get off, you do turn it counterclockwise to loosen correct ? and don't you have to place vice grips or something to grab the shaft down below so it will NOT turn while your turning the ag nut off ?

Hi Chris, This is how I remove the Jetcone from a 1-18: I use a sparkplug socket on either a 3/8 or 1/2in socket set with a 6in extension on it, stand in the tub to keep it from turning, then turn the wrench in a counterclock wise direction. They usually come off pretty easily like that......

kinda what a thought

filterflo..do i have to set a vice grips on the shaft at the roller end or not? im thinkin you can just hold the tub with your foot and that should work?

on the 1-18's you can usually hold the jetcone with your feet while you turn the wrench. Ive found that you need the visegrips more on the rollermatics than on the 1-18's. The 1-18's usually come off pretty easily.........

Good luck working on the new machine Chris!

I agree with Peter--those pulsator nuts are IMPOSSIBLE to remove when the agitator is in good shape! I had the same problem with my machine...I then used my extended-shaft air impact wrench and it worked perfectly. Were you able to get the nut off on yours?

Keep us posted.

will see

am gonna try this weekend. the machine is all apart in the garage getting primed and painted then off to the cone and guts. found a few tiny spots that must have been seeping so need to pull the basket too and reseal the main tub. so will get to that over the weekend. seems like such a simple design sad that it was dropped from production..
