Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

If I had to guess, I would say this machine was manufactured between 1929 and the beginning of WWII.

The machine was manufactured by the 1900 Corporation of Binghamton, NY. This company was formed in 1929 from the merger of the Upton Machine Company and the 1900 Washer Company.

This merged company was later renamed the Whirlpool Corporation in 1950.

Same Question

came to mind, how did that agitator work - 180 to the right, 180 degrees to the left, or incremental back and forth to complete a 360 degree circle in its back and forth action(I know, a little elaborate, perhaps).

I tried to find another one like it - no luck.

Looks so much like a modern HE TL washer with a similar impeller!Would be neat to see this work. That big, single blade/vane looks menencing! And it looks like the "agitator" is made of metal, not plastic!-And--its modern looking SS tank!Another thought--does this machine really fill all the way with water?

John,
By any chance, do you have some NOS spare water level microchip control boards for these? If this important electronic part fails, how can someone still use that machine?!

LOL!

If the board fails-wire around it!!!!Then you can have the machine fill as much as you want!or flood the house with it!Neat to see Whirlpool and some others have gone full circle---Start out with the impellor--than today-end up with it again and thimble full amounts of water-so the agitator or impellor is paddling around just damp clothes in modern machines-but least you got some water in that older machine. If all else-just fill the machine with a bucket!
